CONNECTIONS Connect the video camera and TV monitor as shown in the figure below. NOTE: Before making the connections, make sure the devices are disconnected from the power outlet.

VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Use only video cass ette tapes bearing the VHS logo. This VCR was primarily designed for use with T-120 and T-160 cassette tapes. It is recommended that y ou use T-120 or T-160 standard grade VHS video cass ette tapes for optimal performance.
VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Correct tape thread check function This function checks to make sur e that the cassette has been correctly loaded so that recording c an be carried out.
T APE MANA GEMENT This VCR is equipped with a tape management function. Using this function you can protect pr evious recordings and prevent overuse of the tape by contr olling the tape protection term (number of days), the maximum number of re-recordings of the tape and the recording group.

T APE MANA GEMENT Tape Management Conflict Display If a conflict that prevents record ing is found when the tape management function checks the tape data, the (TAPE MANAG EMENT) menu appears with the conflicting setting flashing and the VCR go into the st op mode.
NORMAL RECORDING Normal Recording Before starting œ Turn the power on to all devices used. œ Load a cassette tape with its erasure-prevention tab intact. œ Set the ON SCREEN switch to the “ ON ” position. NOTES: œ If “ TAPE IN MODE ” is set to “ REC ” in the (GENERA L SET) menu, recording will s tart.
NORMAL RECORDING Record Pause Recording can be interrupted temporarily. 1 Press the STILL /PAUS E button during recording. ø The pause/still indicator “ : ” flashes.

ALARM RECORDING By connecting the ALARM IN terminal to a normally open door switch, an interphone, etc., a record ing can be done only when necessary. Alarm Recording Setting Alarm recording is performed when there is an input (trigger) at the ALARM IN terminal.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Recording Reset Function To stop the recording of an alarm, close the connection between the ALARM RESET IN terminal and the COM terminal during alarm recording. Alarm Recording Counter Display œ During alarm recording, “ AL ” and “A” will be flashing on the digital display.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Search To go to the beginning of a desired alarm recording. 1 Press the SEARCH button during stop mode. ø “ AL SEARCH 01 ” appears on screen. 2 Press the l (or j ) button to set the desired alarm number (01 to 99), then press the FF (or REW ) button.
PR OGRAM TIMER RECORDING There are three program timer recording methods, daily recording, weekly recording or r ecording on certain days of the week. Exampl e 1: To record on ever y Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (17:00), in 24-hour mode (recording speed).
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING A timer recording of more than 24 hours can only be set on the 7th (SAT) and 8th (DAILY) lines of the (TIMER SET) menu. Exampl e 2: To record every week fr om Saturday at 9:00 P M (2 1:00 ) to Mond ay at 7:0 0 AM, in 40-hour mode (recording speed).
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING Setting the Holidays By setting the holidays, timer rec ording will be conducted on those days, as set for Sunday s. 1 Press the MENU button to display the MA IN MENU. 2 Press the l (or j ) button to select the “ 8.HOLIDAY SET ” line, then press the ENTER button.
PROGRAM TIMER RECORDING NOTES: œ During timer recording or timer recording stand-by, all the buttons on the VCR, except the TIMER button and the buttons to set/cancel the secur ity lock (see page 37), are disabled. œ If the power fails, the recording will be inter rupted.
RECORDING USING AN EXTERNAL TIMER INPUT Recording can be controlled by an exter nal start/stop signal input at the EXT T IMER IN terminal. While there is input at the EXT TI MER IN terminal, the external input indicator “E” will light on the digital display and the input will be recorded.
SERIES RECORDING Using 2 VCRs or more, the series recording function lets you switch recording from one unit to the nex t (only with VCRs of the same model as this one). Series Recording Setup œ Connect 2 VCRs or more as illustr ated below. œ Set the “ TAPE ” item in the (GENERAL SE T) menu according to the duration of the tape used.
SINGLE IMA GE RECORDING The single image recording function of this VCR can be used to create image data files or animations. Single Image Recording Setup 1 In stop mode, press the REC/PLAY SPEED l button, to set the recording speed to “ 000 ”. 2 Press the MENU button to display the MA IN MENU.
NORMAL PLA YB A CK Normal Playback 1 Turn on the power to the VCR and TV monitor. 2 Load the video cassette tape. 3 Press the REC/PLAY SPEED l button to select the playback speed mode. ø The selected playback speed mode is displayed on the digital display.
SPECIAL PLA YB A CK Picture Search (Forward and Reverse) 1 Press the FF (or REW ) button, during normal playback. ø The image can be seen while the tape is advanced (or rewound) at high speed. 2 To return to normal playback, press the PLAY button. NOTES: œ During picture search, noise (horizontal bars) will appear in the picture.
D A Y/TIME SEARCH Day/Time Search This searches for a s pecified day/time for still images to be played back. 1 Press the SEARCH button three times during stop mode. ø “ T/D SEARCH 01 00:00 ” will be displayed on screen. 2 Press the l (or j ) button to set the desired day, then press the ENTER button.
CLOCK ADJUSTMENT The time for the second and subsequent VCRs can be set to the same time as the first VCR. A signal from a separate device can also be us ed to set the time for the second and subsequent VCRs to the same time as the first VCR.
SETTING THE CASSETTE EJECT MODE Cassette Eject Setup When using two or more VCRs, the cassette tapes of all the VCRs or some of the VCRs can be ejected at the same time. NOTE: œ “ TERMINAL SET ” in the (OTHERS) menu should always be set to “ SET2 ”.
SYNCHR ONIZA TION CONTR OL When two or more of this model of VCR are connected together, the VCRs can be operated simultaneously just by operating the VCR that has been set to “ MAST ER ”, without using a system controller (sold s eparately). There are two modes available: operator mode and administrator/installer mode.
SYNCHR ONIZA TION CONTROL Setting the Cassette Eject Mode Operator mode can be used to eject cassettes for all VCRs or for specified VCRs. 1 Follow steps 1 to 4 under “ Operator Mode ”. 2 Press the l (or j ) button until the “ EJECT MODE ” setting is highlighted, then press the ENTER button.
SETTING FOR RS-485 USE The RS-485 interface can be used to operate the VCR using a SANYO brand sy stem controller. NOTES: œ This can only be used when the RS-485 interface board (VZU-40485) is installed. œ Refer to the instruction manual for the VZU-40485 and/or the system controller .

OUTPUT TERMINALS TAPE END OUT Terminal œ During recording, when the end of the tape is reached or when the tape counter reading indicates 8 hours, the output becomes 0V (Low). During autorepeat recording, the output becomes 0 V ( Low) for about 2 seconds only.
OUTPUT TERMINALS SW OUT Terminal When recording, a pulse signal is output at the SW OUT terminal. This terminal is usually connected to the switc h input (SW IN) of devices lik e a camera switcher unit, or a quad compressor. SW OUT Term i nal Output Setting 1 Press the MENU button to display the MA IN MENU.

OUTPUT TERMINALS REMOTE Jack Remote control of the VCR is possible by c onnecting a remote controller with a circuit such as indicated below, to the REMOTE jack. NOTES: œ Use a 3.5 mm mini-jack type plug. œ The connection should be done using a shielded cable no more than 5 meters long.
MAINTENANCE Daily Inspection The following daily inspections are recommended in order to assure long-term and trouble-free operation of the unit.
