CONNECTIONS Connect the video camera and monitor TV as shown in the figure below. NOTE: Before making the connec tions, make sure al l the devices are dis connected from the power outlet.

SETTING THE LANGUAGE AND CLOCK Language Setting English, French or S panish can be select ed by the user. 1 Turn the power on to all devices used. 2 Press the MENU button to dis play the (SET UP 1) menu.
CHANGING THE ON-SCREEN DISPLA Y Changing the Date/Time Display Position 1 Turn the power on to all devices used. 2 Set the ON SCREEN switch to the “ ON” position. ° The date and time are display ed. 10-15-99@FRI@000 15:20:00 3 Press the « (or ] ) button.
VIDEO CASSETTE T APES Use only video cas sette tapes bearing the w logo. This VCR was primaril y designed for use wi th T-160 cassette tapes, it is recommended to us e T-160 standard grade VHS video c assette tapes for optimal performance.
VIDEO CASSE TTE T APES Correct tape thread check function If the correct tape thread check func tion is on, after the cassette tape is loaded, a mec hanism will oper ate for about 5 seconds to check that the tape has been threaded (loaded) correctly and the c assette indicator “ o ” will bli nk during that period.
NORMAL RECORDING Normal Recording Before Starting • Turn the power on to all devices used. • Load a cassette tape with erasur e-prevention tab. NOTE: • If in the (SET UP 2) menu, TA PE IN MODE is set to “REC”, recording will st art after the tape thread has been checked.
NORMAL RECORDING Action to Take when the Video Signal Deteriorates If there is no video si gnal during recor ding, fast forward, rewind modes, when in stop mode or when a tape is not loaded the menus are not display ed, “VIDEO LOSS” can be displayed on-sc reen and a signal (0 V) can be output at the ALARM OUT terminal.
AUT OREPEA T RECORDING Autorepeat Recording The same tape can be recorded over many times . • Follow the Before starting steps, under “N ORMAL RECORDING”.
ALARM RECORDING By connecting the ALARM IN terminal to a door switch, an interphone, etc., a recording can be done onl y when necessary. Alarm Recording Setting Alarm recording is perform ed when there is an input (trigger) at the ALARM IN terminal, “AL” i s displayed on the digital dis play.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Recording Counter Display • During alarm recording, “AL” will be flashing on the digital displ ay. • If the ON SCREEN switch is set to the “ ON” position, the number of alarms will flash on the moni tor screen.
ALARM RECORDING Alarm Search To go to the beginning of a desired al arm recording. 1 Press the PAUSE/SEARCH button duri ng stop mode. ° “AL SEARCH 01” will be displayed on screen. 2 Press the l (or j ) button to set the desired alar m number (1 to 99), then press the FF (or REW ) button.
SERIES RECORDING Using 2 VCRs or more, the s eries recording function l ets you switch recor ding from one unit to the next (only wi th VCRs of the same model as this one). NOTE: • T-160 must be used for proper serial out operation. Series Recording Setup 1 Connect 2 VCRs or more as ill ustrated below.
SERIES RECORDING Continous Loop Recording Setup It is possible to c onfigure at least two this VCR for continous loop recor ding. Under loop recording when the r ecording finishes on the first unit, the new recording wi ll start on the sec ond unit. When the recording fini shes on the second unit, recor ding will start on the fir st unit.
NORMAL PLA YBACK Normal Playback 1 Turn on the power to the VCR and TV monitor. 2 Load the video cassette tape. 3 Press the PLAY button. ° Playback starts. ° If necessary, adjus t the tracking to eliminate the noise from the picture. 4 To stop playback, pr ess the STOP button.
SPECIAL PLA YBACK Picture Search (Forward and Reverse) 1 Press the FF (or REW ) button, during normal playback. ° The image can be seen while the tape i s advanced (or rewound) at high speed. 2 To return to normal playback , press the PLAY button. NOTES: • During picture search, noi se (horizontal bars) wi ll appear in the picture.
SETTING THE SECURITY LOCK The security l ock function is designed to prevent accidental s topping of recording if the ST OP button is pressed inadvertenl y. 1 While holdi ng the TRACKING/V.STILL + button, press the l button. ° “ ö ” is displayed on the di gital display .
SETTING THE CASSETTE EJECT MODE Cassette Eject Setup When using 2 VCRs or more, the cassette tape of all the VCRs or some of the VCRs c an be ejected, if the EJECT terminals on the V CRs are connected as indic ated. 1 Press the MENU button until the (SET UP 2) menu is displayed.
SETTINGS FOR RS485 TERMINALS USE The VCR can be controll ed through a special control ler connected to the RS485 terminal. If the VCR is going to be control led trough a connection to the RS485 terminals, be sur e to first make the settings below. 1 Press the MENU button until the (SET UP 5) menu is displayed.
CHECKING POWER FAILURE, FAILURE DUE TO CONDENSATION AND USAGE DURATION 1 Press the MENU button until the (POWER FAILURE), (DEW) and (USE D TIME) menu is displ ayed. (POWER FAILURE) . . . The number of power failures, and the date and time of the most recent power failure and recovery are displayed.
OUTPUT TERMINALS TAPE END OUT Terminal • During recording, when the end of the tape is r eached or when the tape counter reading indicates 7 hour s 57 minutes or more, the output becomes 0V (Low). • To reset the output, press the STOP or EJECT button.
OUTPUT TERMINALS SW OUT Terminal When recording, a pulse si gnal is output at the SW OUT terminal. This terminal i s usually connected to the sw itch input (SW IN) of devices li ke a camera switcher unit, or a quad compr esso r. SW OUT Terminal Output Settin g 1 Press the MENU button until the (SET UP 3) menu is displayed.
OUTPUT TERMINALS REMOTE Jack You can use a VA -RMN01 Remote Control Unit (sold separately) to contro l remotely the VCR. NOTE: • The functions not avail able on the VCR will not operate. Remote control of the VCR is possi ble by connecting a remote controller wi th a circuit such as indi cated below, to the REMOTE jac k.
MAINTENANCE Daily Inspection The following daily inspections ar e recommended in order to assure long-term and trouble- free operation of the unit. The daily inspec tions are particularly important if using autorepeat recording. Inspection Procedure 1 Turn on the power to the VCR, camera, TV monitor and other connected devices .
MAINTENANCE Maintaining and Checking The Mechanism To maintain the VCR functions and features working properly, and to avoid damages or di rt on the tape, it is recommended to follow the maintenance poi nts and periodici ty indicated below. For detailed information, pleas e contact your dealer.
