5 All the saf ety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated. Read all of the instructions given here and retain them for later use. Unplug this projector from A C pow er supply before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
6 Openings in the cabinet are provided f or v entilation. T o ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from ov erheating, these openings must not be bloc ked or cov ered. CA UTION Hot air is exhausted from the e xhaust v ent. When using or installing the projector , the follo wing precautions should be taken.
7 Saf ety Instr uctions Use the projector properly in specified positions. Improper positioning may reduce the lamp lif e and result in sev ere accident or fire hazard. This projector can project the pict ure in upward, down w ard, or inclined position in perpendicular direction to the horizontal plane.
8 Mo ving the Pr oject or CA UTION IN CARR YING OR TRANSPORTING THE PROJECT OR – Do not drop or bump the projector , other wise damages or malfunctions may result. – When carr ying the projector , use a suit able carr ying case. – Do not transport the projector by courier or an y other transport ser vice in an unsuitable transport case.
9 AC P ow er Cord for the Unit ed Kingdom: This cord is already fitted with a moulded plug incorporating a fuse, the value of whic h is indicated on the pin face of the plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced, an A S T A appro ved BS 1362 fuse must be used of the same rating , marked thus AS A .

1 7 Installation Lens Installation Bef ore set ting up the projector , inst all Projection L ens on the projector . 1 8 Projection lens can be mo v ed from side to side and up and do wn with the motor -driven lens shif t function. T his function makes the positioning of images easy on the screen. (See page 28) Lens Shif t Adjustment When the lens is shif ted t o top.
1 9 T er minals of Pr ojector The projector has two replaceable Interf ace board slots. The projector's functions can be e xtended b y installing the optional interface boards into the terminal slots. 1 v acant slot (Input 3) is pro vided in y our purc hasing the projector .

23 NOTE ON THE POWER COR D A C power cord must meet the requirements of the country where you use the projector . Confirm the A C plug t ype with the c hart belo w and proper A C power cord must be used. If the supplied A C power cord does not matc h your A C outlet, cont act your sales dealer .

Press the FREEZE but ton on the remote control to freeze the pict ure on the screen.

35 Comput er S yst em Selection This projector automatically t unes to various types of computers based on V G A, S V GA, XG A, SXGA, SXG A+, WXGA, UXG A, or WUXGA (ref er to “Compatible Computer Specifications” on pages 80-81).
36 A uto PC Adjustment A uto PC Adjustment function is provided to automatically adjust Fine sync, T ot al dots, Horizontal and V ertical positions to conform to y our computer . Press the MENU but ton to display the On-Screen Menu. Use the P oint 7 8 but tons to move the red frame pointer to the PC A djust Menu icon.
37 Manual PC Adjustment Some computers employ special signal f ormats whic h may not be t uned b y Multi-Scan sy stem of this projector . Manual PC Adjustment enables y ou to precisely adjust se veral parameters to matc h those special signal formats.
38 Exit the PC A djust Menu. T o store the adjusted data, select Store and then press the SELECT but ton. Move the red arro w pointer to one of the Mode 1 to 1 0 in whic h you want to store, and then press the SELECT but ton. T o reset the adjusted data, select Reset and press the SELECT but ton.

48 Use the P oint 7 8 but tons to adjust the gamma value to obtain a bet ter balance of contrast (from 0 to 15). Gamma Press the P oint 7 but ton to decrease the sharpness of the image; press the P oint 8 but ton to increase the sharpness of the image (from 0 to 31).
49 Pictur e Image Press the MENU but ton to display the On-Screen Menu. 51 Set ting Pictur e in Pict ur e This function is used to project two videos simultaneously by placing a separate small sub screen within the main screen. Use the P oint ed but tons to mov e the red frame pointer to Picture in Pict ure and then press the SELECT button to display a dialog bo x.
52 Set ting Edge blending This function allo ws multiple projector images to be seamlessly ov erlapped. Use the P oint ed but tons to mov e the red frame pointer to Edge blending and then press the SELECT but ton to display a dialog box. Use the P oint ed7 8 but tons to adjust the setting value.
53 Set ting Advanced color matc hing . . . . . Set to ‘On‘ to activate the ‘ Adv anced color matc hing’ . When it is set to ‘Of f‘ , all items ex cept f or ’T est pat tern ’ are displa yed in gray out and cannot be adjusted. Measured .

Should the filter becomes clogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fans ’ ef f ectiveness and may result in internal heat buildup and adversely af f ect the lif e of the projector .
63 T urn of f the projector , press the Main On/Of f Switc h to Of f and unplug the A C pow er cord from the A C outlet. 65 Lamp Manag ement This P rojector is equipped with 2 P rojection Lamps to ensure brighter image and those lamps are controlled b y the Lamp Management F unction. The Lamp Management F unction detects the st atus of lamps and sho ws the status on screen or on the LAMP 1/2 REPLA CE indicators.
66 Maint enance and Car e Chec k the number of lamp to be replaced on the Lamp Status Display . Loosen a scre w on the Lamp Co v er . Slide and open the Lamp Cov er until it mak es a clic king sound. 68 Maint enance and Car e Optional Color Wheel Installation The projector comes with the high brightness color wheels installed. A dditional ric h color reproduction color wheels are supplied. T o replace the color wheels, ref er to the f ollo wing steps.
69 T urn of f the projector , press the Main On/Of f Switc h to Off and unplug the A C pow er cord from the A C outlet before cleaning. Gently wipe the projection lens with a cleaning cloth that contains a small amount of non-abrasive camera lens cleaner , or use a lens cleaning paper or commercially av ailable air blo w er to clean the lens.
