7 SETTING THE CLOCK T o set the correct time, follow the steps below . EXAMPLE: When the current time is 8:00am, but the display shows 7:55am. Insert the power plug into electrical outlet. Press the HRS or MIN button until the time display begins to flash.

9 COOKING RICE E xample: With 13 minutes remaining time. P ress the COOK/START button to cook. 5 Stir the rice before serving. Cooked rice can be kept warm for up to 12 hours. 6 • Indicator beeps will sound when cooking is finished and will a u t omatically switch to the “Keep Warm” mode.
10 TIPS FOR COOKING RICE • Evenly distribute the rice in the bottom of the inner pot to ensure even cooking. • Wash the rice thoroughly. Newly harvested rice (fall season) usually requires less water for cooking than does rice that has been stored.
11 Check that the current time is on the display. The rice cooker uses a 12-hour clock. Rice cooking will be finished at a specific time when using Timer Cooking. Two times may be programmed using Timer Cooking. 1 • If the clock has not been set to the correct time, Timer Cooking may not function properly.
12 TIMER COOKING Once the timer has been set, T imer Cooking can be performed in two steps. Timer must be set for the minimum times listed below, otherwise cooking will start immediately. Select TOFU menu to make soft tofu. Use tofu container and attach the inner l id for slow cooking.
13 STEAMING Add approximately 1 1 / 2 measuring cups (9.13oz/270ml) of water into the inner pot for steaming. 1 • Use the measuring cup provided. • Always add a minimum of one measuring cup of water. 2 Press the COOK/START button. 6 • The COOK lamp lights and steaming begins.
14 SLOW COOK Put the ingredients and seasonings into inner pot for slow cooking. Place it into the main unit. 1 • Do not add ingredients above the MAX line on inner pot. Doing so may cause the unit to overflow or the food may not be cooked properly.
N E S O O L F A S T E N 15 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Always unplug the power supply cord from the electric outlet and allow the unit to cool off completely prior to cleaning. When cleaning the unit, do not use cleaning powder, scrub brush, benzene or thinner.
16 TROUBLESHOOTING Is the power cord plugged in properly or has any power failure occurred? Is the rice and water amount correct? Are there any foreign objects sticking to the outer inner pot, tempera.
17 RECIPES (Use appropriate inner pot with inner lid for cooking rice or slow cooking.) T IPS FOR COOKING RECIPES • Use the provided measuring cup (6 oz. or 180 ml) for measuring rice. • Do not measure seasonings with the provided measuring cup. Use a standard measuring cup and s p oons for seasonings.
18 Preparation: 1. Mix the two kinds of rice together, wash, and let sit f o r 30-60 minutes. 2 . Heat red beans in a pot of water over high flame. B r i ng to a boil and discard broth. Add another half quart o f water and simmer until beans are slightly hard.
19 Makes 4-6 servings Ingredients: 1 cup rice 1 / 2 4 stalks asparagus medium onion, minced 1 / 2 cup canned tuna (optional) 1 clove garlic, minced 2 tsp. chicken bouillon Salt & pepper 3 cups water 1 Tbs. olive oil 1 / 4 Preparation: 1 . 2 . 3. Cut asparagus diagonally into bite-size pieces and parboil.
20 Makes 4-6 servings Ingredients: Preparation: 1. In large skillet, cook onions and brown meat. Drain. 2. Mix pinto beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and s e asonings together in separate bowl. 3. Place mixed ingredients in inner pot. Add meat and o n i ons.
