11 Remote control functions Ma ny functions of the WR-5 ta bletop receiver can be operated using the remote control. Some operations require a longer press of the button. In this ca se si mply keep your finger held on the remote control button for 2-3 seconds until the display on the radio shows that the comma nd ha s been acce pted.
12 GB Using the radio for the first time Using the AC power ad a ptor The AC power ada ptor required for this unit should be 12 volts AC at 1.6A. Insert the a da ptor plug into the AC socket on the rear of the radio. Plug the ada ptor into a standard main s socket outlet.
13 Operating your radio – Search tuning AM/FM 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press the Source button a s needed until the AM or FM ba n d is selected. 3. Press a nd relea se the Seek / Select button to carry out an auto-tune.
14 GB Manual tuning – AM/FM 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press a nd relea se the Source button to select AM or FM radio mode. 3. Rotate the Tuning control to tune to a station. The FM frequency will cha nge in steps of 100kHz/50kHz a nd AM frequency will cha nge in steps of 10kHz/9kHz.
15 Setting up the tuning step increment 1. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button to enter the menu setting. 2. Rotate the T uning control until FM 50/100MHz or AM 9/10kHz a ppears on the display , and pre ss a nd relea se the Seek / Select button to enter the step increment setting.

17 FM stereo (auto) / mono If the FM radio station being listened to ha s a wea k signal some hiss may be audible. It is possible to reduce this hiss by forcing the radio to play the station in mono rather tha n stereo.
18 GB Presetting stations in AM/FM mode There are 6 preset station s ea ch for AM and FM ra dio. They are used in the sa me way for ea ch waveba nd. 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press the Source button to select the desired waveba nd.
19 iPod docking Y our radio ha s a n iPod docking fa cility which allows you to play digital audio files a nd soundtra ck s held on your iPod directly .
20 GB Charging your iPod 1. Pla ce the iPod onto the U niversal Dock Adjuster into the iPod docking compartment. Press the ST ANDBY button to switch on your radio. 2. Press SOURCE button until “iPod” shows on the display . Y our radio is able to recharge your iPod’s internal battery when the source is Aux In, iPod or Sta ndby mode.
21 Navigating your iPod T o navigate your iPod menus to ma ke selection s or to cha nge settings, you should use your iPod controls. The radio controls ca n be used f or Menu / Select, Previous / Next, Fa st Rewind / Fa st Forward and Play / Pause functions.
22 GB Search function 1. Press a nd relea se e ither the Fa st-Forward or Ba ck-forward button to start playing the next or previous tra ck. 2. While the iPod is playing, press a nd hold the Fa st-For.
23 Clock and Alarms Setting the time format The clock display used in sta nd-by mode a nd on the playing mode screens ca n be set to 12 or 24 hour f ormat. The selected f ormat is then also used when setting the alarms. 1. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button to enter the menu setting.
24 GB Setting the date format 1. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button to a cce ss the menu setting. 2. Rotate the T uning control until date f ormat ex. “Ja n-xx-2010” shows on the display . Press and relea se the Seek / Select button to enter the date format setting.
25 Setting the clock time manually 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button. 3. Rotate the T uning control until a clock symbol a ppears on the left side display , then press a nd rele a se the Seek / Select button to enter the setting.
26 GB Setting the clock time using RDS CT 1. When tuning to a station tra nsmitting RDS data, pre ss a nd hold the Info/menu button. 2. Rotate the T uning control until a clock symbol a ppears on the display . Press a nd relea se the Seek / Select button to enter the setting.
27 Setting the alarm clock Y our W R-5 ha s two alarms which can ea ch be set to wake you to AM/FM radio, buzzer alarm or iPod. The alarms may be set while the unit is in sta ndby mode or while playing. 1. Before setting a n alarm ensure that the clock time is set.
28 GB 4. Rotate the Tuning control to choose the required alarm type, a nd then press a nd relea se the Seek / Sele ct button to confirm the setting. The alarm ca n be set to buzzer , iPod, FM or AM. When radio mode is selected, the radio frequency and the preset number on the display will begin to fla sh.
29 When the alarm sounds T o ca ncel a sounding alarm, press a nd hold the Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 button until the alarm indicator on the display disa ppears. When the buzzer alarm a ctivates, the alarm will start softly a nd gradually incre a se in level.
30 GB Snooze 1. When the alarm sounds, press a ny button other than the Sta ndby button will silence the alarm for 5 minute s. “SNOOZE’ will a ppear on the display. 2. T o a djust the silence time f or the snooze ti mer , press a nd hold the Info/menu button to enter the menu setting.
31 Sleep timer Y our radio ca n be set to turn off automatically after a preset ti me ha s ela psed. The Slee p T imer setting ca n be adjusted between 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 a nd 120 minutes. 1. Press a nd hold the Sta ndby button to enter the Sleep Ti mer setting.
32 GB Time zone setting Y our W R-5 ca n set up the ti me zone f or its radio clock ti me. 1. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button to enter the menu setting. 2. Rotate the T uning control until TIME ZONE a ppears on the display . Press a nd relea se the Seek / Select button to enter the setting.
33 Display & Audio setup Dimmer control The brightness of the display may be adjusted. If you use the unit in the bedroom, you may prefer a higher brightness level tha n the sta ndard setting. 1. Press a nd rele a se the Snooze/Dimmer button re peatedly to adjust the brightness level of the LCD display .

36 GB Auxiliary input socket A 3.5mm stereo Auxiliary Input socket is provided on the rear of your radio to permit a n audio sign al to be fed into the unit from a n external audio device such a s iPod, MP3 or CD player . 1. 37 Software version The software display ca nnot be altered a nd is just for your reference. 1. Press a nd hold the Inf o/menu button to enter the menu setting. 2. Rotate the T uning control until VER 1.XX a ppears on the display to view the software version of your radio.
