9 Using the we ather alert radio f or the first time Battery operation 1. Remove the battery cover on the rear of the unit by pressing the catch. Note: Before you insert the batteries, if you use non-rechargeable batteries, ma ke sure the NiMH/Alkaline switch which located inside the battery compartment is switched to Alkaline position.

11 5 3 2 Ma nual tuning – AM/FM 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Press the Ba nd button to select the required ba nd. Fully extend the a ntenna for best rece ption. 3. Press a nd relea se the Tuning up/down button to tune to a station.
12 3-4 2-4 GB Setting up the tuning ste p incre ment 1. Ma ke sure your radio is in power off mode. 2. Press a nd hold the Ba nd/step button until the FM tuning step setting begins to fla sh. 3. Press the T uning Up / Down button s to select either 100kHz or 200kHz for FM ra dio, and pre ss a nd relea se the Band/step button to confirm the setting.
13 3,4 FM stereo (Auto) / mono If the FM radio station being listened to ha s a wea k signal some hiss may be audible. It is possible to reduce this hiss by forcing the radio to play the station in mono rather tha n stereo. 1. Press the Step/Ba nd button to select the FM band a nd tune to the required FM stations a s previously described.
14 3,5 4 GB Pre setting station s (My Favorite) Y ou may store your preferred AM/FM radio stations to My Favorite Stations (1 to 19). The procedure for setting My Favorite Stations is described below . Note that the ra dios for AM and FM are saved together in the My Favorite so there are nineteen of them.
15 2 3 Recalling a my favorite station 1. Press the Sta ndby button to switch on your radio. 2. Momentarily press the My Fav. Button to cause your radio switch to My Favorite mode a nd tune to the station stored a s My Favorite Station. The My favorite icon will show on the display.
16 2 1,3-4 GB We ather Band a nd weather alert operation 1. When the ra dio is on, press the W X button to switch to the W eather Ba nd. 2. Press the Tuning Up/Down buttons to select the desired weather cha nnel. The LCD display will show the channel number .
17 2,3 1,3-4 Clock and Alarms Setting the clock manually The clock of PR-D9W needs to be set up ma nually before the alarm function ca n be used. 1. Press a nd hold the clock time button until the ra dio beeps once a nd the hour digits of time setting begins to fla sh.
18 3 1-2,4 GB Setting the time format The clock display used in sta nd-by mode a nd on the playing mode screens ca n be set to 12 or 24 hour f ormat. The selected format is then also used when setting the alarms.
19 2-6 1,4-6 5 Setting the alarm clock Y our PR-D9W radio ha s two alarms which ca n ea ch be set to wa ke you to buzzer or AM/FM radio alarm. The alarms may be set while the unit is in sta ndby mode or while playing. 1. Before setting a n alarm ensure that the clock time is set.

21 2 Ca ncelling alarms 1. When a n alarm is sounding it can be ca ncelled by pressing the Sta ndby button. 2. T o ca ncel a n alarm at any other ti me, press a nd hold the alarm button until the alarm indicator disa ppear from the display . Snooze 1.
22 GB Slee p timer function Y our radio ca n be set to turn off after a preset time ha s ela psed. The sleep ti mer setting can be a djusted between 15 a nd 120 minutes. 1. T o use the sleep ti mer , press a nd hold the Sta ndby button to enter the sleep timer setup.
23 Display a nd Audio Brightness control The brightness of the display may be adjusted. If you use the unit in the bedroom, you may prefer a higher brightness level. 1. Repeatedly press the ba cklight button to change the current brightness level. The ba cklight level will cha nge at the sa me time so that you ca n see the effect of the cha nge.
