5 Q&A 1. Is the antenna I use for existing TV reception good enough for DTV? Over -the-air (OT A) digital TV broadcasting uses the same channels as analog TV and works well with many existing TV antennas. However , DTV broadcast channel assign- ments are dif ferent than analog channels.

21 Connecting a Digital TV Set-T op Box (480p/720p/1080i) Connecting to Y , P B , P R Connect the Y , P B , and P R video outputs of the set-top box to their corresponding inputs on the TV . Next, connect the Left and Right audio from the set-top box to the corr esponding L and R terminals on the TV .
22 I NST ALLA TION Connecting to DVI (Digital Visual Interface) By inputting a high-bandwidth Digital Content Protection high-definition pictur e source to the DIGIT AL INPUT jack on the TV , high-definition pictures can be displayed on the screen in their digital forms.
23 Connecting a Camcorder The side panel jacks on your TV make it easy to connect a camcorder to your TV . They allow you to view the camcorder tapes without using a VCR. (Also see “ V iewing an Exter nal Signal Source ” on page 44). 1 Lo ca te the A/V outp ut ja cks o n the c am- cord er .
24 Connecting to a Digital Audio System There are many types of audio systems on the market today . A simplified illustration of an audio system is shown below . Checking the Digital-Signal Strength Unlike analog channels, which can vary in reception quality from “ snowy ” to clear , digital (HDTV) channels have either perfect reception quality or you will not receive them at all. So, unlike analog channels, you cannot fine tune a digital channel.
