25 1. Introduction Installing the driver locally A locally connected machine is a machin e directly attached to your computer using the cable. If your machine is attached to a network, skip the following steps below and go on to installing a n etwork connected machine’s driver (see "Installing driver over th e network" on page 13).

Exposed areas can cause labels to peel off during printing , which can cause paper jams.

81 3. Maintenance Monitoring the supplies life If you experience frequent paper jams or printing problems, check the number of pages the machine has printed or scanned. Repla ce the correspon ding parts, if necessary. It may be necessary to press OK to navigate to lower-level menus for some models.

92 4. Troubleshooting Tips for avoiding paper jams By selecting the correct medias, most paper jams can be avoided. To avoid paper jams, refer to the following guidelines: • Ensure that the adjustable guid es are positioned correctly (see "Tray overview" on page 36).
