12 Chapter 1 Using the Keyboard Y our notebook features a full-size ke yboard that functions the same as a desktop computer keyboard. Many of the keys have been assigned alternate functions, includin g shortcut keys for Windows, function keys for specific system operations, and the Num Lock keys for the numeric keypad.

Chapter 2 31 System Utilities BIOS Setup Utility The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration prog ram built into y our computer ’s BIOS (Basic Input/ Output System). Y our computer is already properly configu red and optimi zed, and you do not need to run this utility .

Chapter 2 39 BIOS Flash Utilities The BIOS flash memory upd ate is required for th e following condition s: • New versions of system programs • New features or options • Restore a BIOS when it becomes corrupted. Use the Phlash util ity to update the system BIOS flash ROM.
40 Chapter 2 DOS Flash Utility Perform the following steps to use the DOS Flash Utility: 1. Press F2 during boot to enter the Setup Menu. 2. Select Boot Menu to modify the boot priority order , for example, if usin g USB HDD to Update BIOS, move USB HDD to position 1.

Chapter 3 77 Removing the Upper Cover IMPORT ANT : The T ouchPad is supplied as part of the Upper Cove r . If the T ouchPad is defective, re place the entire Upper Cover . 1. See “Removing the LCD Module” on page 74. 2. T urn the computer over . Remove the fifteen screws on the bottom panel.
