Y our Phone 9 Your Phone External Display Y our phone has an external LCD di splay on the folder . It indicates when you have an incoming call or a message. The externa l display can alert you to ala rms you have se t by flashing at the specified time and displaying the corresponding icon.
Getting S tarted 10 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellula r network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services , and other information.
Getting S tarted 11 Getting Started 3. Slide the SIM card into the SI M ca rd socket so that the card locks into pl ace. Make sure the gold contac ts of the ca rd face into the phone. Note: If you need to remove the SIM card, slide it, as shown, and take it out of the socket.
Getting S tarted 12 4. Place the batt ery s o that the 3 brass tabs on th e end align with the 3 brass prongs at the bottom of the battery compartment (1). Press the battery down until it clicks into place (2). 5. Replace the ba ttery cover . Make sure that th e battery is properly installed before switching on the phone.
Getting S tarted 13 Getting Started Y ou can use the phone while the batter y is charging, but this causes the phone to charge more slowly . Note: Y ou must fully charge the batter y before using your phone fo r the first time. A discharged battery recharges fully in ap proximately 2 hours.
Getting S tarted 14 Switching the Phone On or Off 1. Open the phone. 2. Press and hold the key until the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks you to enter the phone password, enter the password and press the OK soft key . It is preset to “00000000” at the factor y .
Call Functions 15 Call Functions Call Functions Selecting Functions and Options The roles of th e soft keys vary depending on the function you are currently using. The labels on th e bottom line of the display just above each key in dicate their cu rren t role.
Call Functions 16 ♦ Some submenus di splay to the right of an option, indicating additional sub-options. Highlight the option and press either the Right navigation key or the ke y to display the sub-options. In some functions, you may be asked for a password or PIN.
Call Functions 17 Call Functions Note: When you activate the Auto redial option in the Extra settings m enu ( Menu 9.2.4 ), the phone automatically redials up to te n times when the perso n does not answer the call or is already on t he phone.

Press the key to display your Recent calls . B y def ault, the All Calls list is displayed, showing al l numbers made, received or missed.

Call Functions 22 Silent Mode Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the pho ne from making noise, in a theater for exampl e. In Silent mod e, instead o f sounds, your phone will vibrate, or do nothing, depending on the function and the situation.
Options During a Call 23 Options During a Call Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of f eatures that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can make another call while you have a call in progress if your network supports this service.

Options During a Call 25 Options During a Call Muting or Sending Key T ones These options allow you to turn the key tones off or on. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does not transmit the DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Freque ncy) tones o f the keys , which allows you to press keys without h earing a nnoying key tones during a call.

Entering T ext 29 Entering Text Entering T ext When using your pho ne, you will ofte n need to e nter text, such as when storing a name in the Contac ts list, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on you r calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.
Entering T ext 30 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive text input mode that allows you to key in any character using a single keystroke. This text input mode is based on a built-in dictionary . Y our phone will select the most likely word based on your keystroke combinations.
