17 Getting to know your phone Antenna A device for transmitting or receiving sign als. An antenna makes the call sound clear er when fully e xtended. Use only in the normal position and do not touch t he antenna e xcessively when the phone is acti ve.
18 End (power On/Off Key) This key is util ized sever al ways: ¨ Press and hold to turn on your phone. ¨ Press and hold to turn off your phone. ¨ Press once to disconnec t a call or to return to stand by mode and cancel your input. Front Fl ip Closing your phone’ s flip ends a call.

20 Voice M emo B utton Located on the left side of the phone. ¨ Press and hold this butt on to record up to 240 second s of audio. ¨ A total o f four minutes of audio can be record ed. These vo ice memos can be stored indefinitely or erased as desired.
21 Interface (IF) Adapt er Located at the bottom of the phone. ¨ Before using, gently pry the cover f rom the p hone to expose the IF adapter . ¨ This plug is used t o connect additio nal phone accessorie s such as the travel charger and data cabl e.
22 Getting St arted Getting Co nnected Y ou must contact your servic e provider to obtain service for your Samsung T300 phone. It is suggested that you read this user guide to fully unders tand the featur es that your phone supports. Turning your Phone On T o turn your phone on, open the phone ’ s flip cover and press the key .

29 Using your Phone’s M enus The phone offers a range of functions that allow you to tailor the phone to your personal requirements. These functions are arranged in me nus and submenus. The menus a nd submenus ca n be accesse d by scrol ling or using shortcuts.
30 9. Press the key in the center to confirm your sele ction. 10. Y our phone saves this setting and returns to standby mode. Retu rning to th e Pr evious Menu ¨ T o retu rn to the previous menu, press the key . ¨ Select the key to exit t he menu without savin g the setting.
31 Your phone’s modes Lock Mode When you lock your phone using t he Lock mode m enu option, phone use becomes r estricted. Y ou can receive messages and calls, but you cannot make an outgoing call until t he phone is unlocked. T o unlock the phone, press , , , or and ente r the lock code.
32 Convers ation/T alk Mode Y ou can send and answer calls only when your phone is turned on. During a cal l, the phone i s in conversa tion or ta lk mode. While y ou are in this m ode, pressing gives you a list of options ref erred to as ‘InUse Options’ .
33 The Top Lin e of the Displ ay Screen Display indicators (or icons) appear across the top of your phone’ s display screen. The sig nal st rength and battery strength icons are always displayed, but the other icons appear base d your phone’ s operating mode.
34 ¨ In your home service area, this indicator does not display . ¨ In a preferred analog or digital roaming area (where your service provider has a roaming a greement in pl ace), this indicator i s on, but not flashing. ¨ In an an alog o r digita l area that is n ot cove red by yo ur phone’s service pr ovider , this indica tor is on.
35 Using the Battery Note: Y our phone comes pac kaged with a partially charged, rechargeable standard Li- ion bat tery . The ph one can be used w hile the battery i s charging, but must be fully charg ed the first time you use your phon e otherwise the battery coul d be damaged.
36 Removi ng the Battery T o remove the battery from your phone: 1. T urn the phone of f (by pressing and hold ing until the clos ing animation seq uence be gins.) 2. Push the catch butto n up on the top of th e battery on the back side of the phone. (se e illustra tion).
37 Low B atter y Indi cato r Y ou can t ell whether or not your batt ery needs to be recharged by checking the indicator (it’ s located in the upper -right corner of the d ispla y). The p resen ce of a ll thre e bars indi cates a ful l cha rge, two bars indicates a medium charge, and one bar indicates a minimum charge.

The LED on the travel charger indicate s the status of the battery charge. ¨ Red indicates that the battery is charging. ¨ Green indicates that the battery is fully charged. ¨ Y ello w indicates that the battery is operating at a temperature th at is too high or too low , or that the char ger is not plu gged in corr ectly .
39 Caring for t he Battery Protecting your ba ttery The guidelines l isted below help yo u get the mos t out of your battery’ s performance. ¨ Use only Samsung approved batteries an d chargers. Sa msung chargers are designed to maximize battery life.
40 Calls Outgoing T o pla ce a call: 1. Press to power on your phone. 2. Enter the phone n umber you w ish to call (u p to 32 digits) by p ressing th e digit keys. The phone number is displayed from l eft to right . 3. Press the key . The phone calls t he numb er ente red.
41 Missed Y our phone keeps a list of calls that were not answered when the phone is on and serv ice is available . The phone indicates a m issed call by displaying a text notification on the screen.
42 Three Way Calling Y our phone is also able to conference call or three way call t wo other people. When you are talking to someone, you can conference in anoth er cal ler , so all three can ta lk to eac h other . Note : You are billed for both calls according to your service plan.
43 Erase logs Y ou can eras e any of the th ree lis ts (Outgo ing, Incomin g or Misse d calls ) or you can eas ily era se all thr ee li sts at o nce. He re is an ex amp le: 1. Press to di splay the menu. 2. Press fo r the Call menu. 3. Press for Erase Logs.
44 Reviewing outgoing, incoming, or mis sed calls When a call log is displayed, press the appropriate number to be automatically connected. 1. Press to displ ay th e men u. 2. Press for Calls. ¨ Press the associated digit key to select an option: ¨ Press fo r Outg oing c alls.
45 Air Time Y our phone logs the amount of air time or talk time used for all calls. T o v iew the cal l logs : 1. Press . 2. Press for Calls. 3. Select for Air T ime. 4. Then use t he scroll k ey to revie w your opt ions. 5. Pre ss the desired key to be au tomatica lly co nnected to the opti on of choice.
46 Total T otal air time i s the amount o f time t he phone has be en used s ince it was last eras ed. All inc omin g and outg oing cal ls are sa ved in the log . This feature is not intended for billing purposes. T o view or e rase t ota l air time : 1.
47 Erase Total T o erase you r tota l air ti me: 1. Press to dis play the menu . 2. Press for Calls. 3. Press for Air Time. 4. Press to Er ase T otal. Pr ess in the center to erase the “T otal” airti me measurement, or press to cancel the operation and return to the previous d isplay screen.

49 Phone Book Y our phone allows you st ore up to 500 numbers and names in the Phone Book. Each e ntry can have up to 8 a ssociated phone numbers. Each entry can contain up to 32 digits including hard pauses, with an associ ated na me of up to 1 2 charact ers.
50 Answering a Call When you receive a call, the phone will ring and a phone icon is displa yed on the scre en. If th e calle r ca n be id enti fied, the c alle r’ s phone number (o r name if pr e-stored in y our Phone Book is displayed. If the caller cannot be identified only the phone icon displays.
51 Find Name With your phone i n standby mode : 1. Press to di spla y the men u. 2. Press f or the Phone Bo ok. 3. Pressing disp lays the Find Name optio n. 4. Slide the key u p or dow n to scroll the phon e numbers. 5. Pressing in the center selects the number .
52 Add Entry This menu pe rmits you to st ore a phone number , na me, location, category , relation, and ringer type in your Phone Book. T o add an ent ry: 1. Press to displa y the men u. 2. Press for Phone Book. 3. Press for Add Entry . 4. The display sc reen prompt s ‘Add Ent ry #’.
53 ¨ Secret: This field a dvises if this number i s one o f your ‘ secret’ numbers. ¨ Category: This is the category label associated with the ent ry . For example; V oice Dial, Speed Dial, Home, Office, Mobile, Pager , or Fax. ¨ Relati on: Pressing the scroll key disp lays both the number and the name associated with it.
54 7. Press to display the “Memory” screen. 8. Enter the desired memory location usin g the keypad. 9. Press to save and exit. Note : Follow the steps listed above when memory location 411 or 311 are accidentally over wr itten. Pause D ialing When you call automated syst ems, you are usually required to enter a password or account number .
55 ¨ P pause - This option is used to ent er a hard pause that will stop the dialin g sequence. Enter th e account numbe r or password digits after entering th is pause. ¨ T pause - This pause is an automatic two second del ay in the dialing sequence.
56 Manual pa use dialing T o perform manual pause dialing without first storing the number in the Phone Book, enter pauses manually using the Digit Entry menu during the dialing proce ss. T o manually dial a number using a pause(s): 1. Enter the phone nu mber of the service you want to call.
57 5. Y our Information di splays. If the numbe r has been designat ed as “Secret” you are prompted to enter the Lo ck Code. T oggle usi ng the key and choose from one of the follow ing options: ¨ Phone number ¨ Name ¨ Location ¨ Secret ¨ Category ¨ Re lati on ¨ Ringtype 6.

61 Relati on Search Secret ph one book numb ers Y our phone allows you to hide a confidential number so that only a person with your phone’ s Lock Code can view that name and number . T o make a number “Secret,” see “T o add a new phone number to the Phone Book” on page 61.

64 Dialing numbers from t he phone book Dialing numbers from your Phone Book is quick and easy . Different methods are explained below: Shortcu ts to M emor y Dialing Speed Dialing: From standby mod e, enter the number of the memory locatio n, and pr ess the number f or the requ ire d opti on.

66 Web/MiniBrowser Y our phone comes e quipped with wireless Intern et access by using the MiniBrowser . The MiniBrowser allows you to access up-to-the-minute information through you r phone. Vi ew specially designed v ersions of popul ar Internet sites which may include news, s ports, weather , stock quotes, etc.

70 How the Keys Work in t he Min iBro wser Up/dow n na vigati on keys : Use the navigation keys to scroll to and select f rom MiniBrowser opti ons. The currently selected opt ion is indicat ed by an arrow . Y ou can also use the navigati on keys to move the cu rsor when editing text.
71 MENU key: This is the right s oft key . The right soft key is used to access secondary options, or a menu of secondary optio ns. Ent erin g Tex t, N umber s, or Symb ols At various t imes when usi ng your phone, you will ne ed to ente r text.
72 Alphabetical Text Entry Alphabetical text cha racters may be enter ed in the alpha Inpu t Mode by pressing the ke y corresponding to the letter that you want to enter . Press th e same k ey rep eatedl y to change b etwee n the cha racter s represented by each key .
73 Symbol E ntry Symbol mode enables you to enter symbols into a text messa ge. Use the key to display the opt ions and press the key up or down select the sy mbol option. W hen displaye d toggle using the to select the symbols. When in Symbol input mode, press the key shown on the display under the symbol that you desire to enter .
74 T9 Word Text Entry T9 Word enables you to easily ent er text. T9 (for “text on 9 keys”) requires only one key press per lette r and quickly recognizes the most commonly used word of a numeric sequence. For e xampl e, to enter t he word “ hello, ” you can spell o ut t he wor d by pressing only five keys, 4-3-5-5-6.
75 Schedule r Today Y ou can schedule up to 9 events for the current day by indicating each event’ s start and end time. Y ou can be alerted by the Calendar function befor e an even t is com menced . Event s that are s chedul ed for future dates automa tically disp lay on your T oday events sc hedule for that particular day .
76 7. Add the start ti me and date using the numeric keys, th en press the key to display the next screen. 8. Add the end time and date. Press to save the informatio n. 9. If an error is made, or duplic ate in formation is already saved , pressing the key offe rs the fo llow ing opt ions: ¨ Add new ¨ Edit ¨ Erase 10.
77 4. Pressing the Menu key di splays two options in the upper righ t corner of the display screen, they are: ¨ V iew (Permits you to view previous calendar entrie s). ¨ Add New (Permits you to add a new calendar entry). 5. T o enter a new event, ent er your event information.

80 To Do List The T o Do List can help you keep track of, and prioritiz e the things you need to do. Y ou can e nter and pri oritize up to 30 ite ms. How to create a to do list 1. Press to display the menu. 2. Press for Scheduler . 3. Press for T o Do List.
81 4. Press and using the navigation keys find the T o Do List item you want to change. 5. Press the key t o sele ct th e corr ect opti on. Your choic es are : ¨ Add New ¨ Edit ¨ Erase 6. Continue to add a new item, edit or erase an existing item by following the prompts.
82 6. Enter the dat e and ti me that you w ant to “ Countdown” t o. For example, if today’ s dat e is November 10, 2000 and you wish to know how many months, days, an d hours are left b efore 7:00 PM February 1 4, 2001 e nter the ti me 07: 00 PM a nd the d ate 02 /14/200 1.

85 Alarm Y our phone has an alarm clock function with three separate alarms. Each alarm can be set t o go off onc e, or daily at a s et programmed time. On ce you set an al arm, it is easy to change it’ s time or to tu rn it off. Alarm set 1. Press to display the menu.
86 Sounds Ringer Op tions Y our phone provides a variety of r inger options t hrough the Sounds menu. These opt ions allow you to customize your ringer t ype and ringe r volu me sett ing s in ord er to eas ily recog niz e a certai n type of inco ming cal l.
