Assembling 12 Install the SIM or USIM card and batt er y When you subscribe to a c ellular ser vice, you will rec eive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, with subscription details, such as y our personal identification number (PIN) and optional ser vices.
Assembling 13 Inser t the batter y . 4 Replace the back cov er . 5 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time, you must char ge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with a tr avel adapt er or by connecting the device to a PC with a PC data cable .
Assembling 14 When your batt er y is low , the device will emit a ● warning tone and display a lo w battery message. The battery icon will also be empty . I f the battery level becomes too low , the device will automatically power off . Recharge your battery to continue using your device.
Assembling 15 Plug the large end of the tra vel adapter into a pow er 2 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charg ing, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the touch screen ma y ● not function due to an unstable power supply .
Assembling 16 Plug the other end of the PC data cable into a USB port on 2 a PC. Depending on the type of PC data cable you are using , it may take some time bef ore charg ing begins. When the battery is fully charged (the battery icon is no 3 longer moving), unplug the PC data cable fr om the device and then from the PC.
Assembling 17 Remove the back co ver and batter y . 1 Inser t a memor y card with the gold-coloured contacts 2 facing down. Push the memory card in the memor y card slot until it 3 locks in place. Replace the battery and back cover . 4 Remov e the memor y car d › Before r emoving a memor y card, first unmount it f or safe remov al.
Assembling 18 F ormat the memor y card › F ormatting your memor y card on a PC may cause incompatibilities with y our device. F ormat the memory card only on the device. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → S torage → Erase SD card → Er ase SD card → Er ase everything .
Getting star ted 19 Getting star ted T urn your devic e on and off T o turn on your device , Pr ess and hold the Pow er/Lock key . 1 If you turn on your device f or the first time, follow the on- 2 screen instructions to set up your device . T o turn off your device , press and hold the P ower/L ock key and then select Po wer off → OK .

Getting star ted 24 Use the t ouch screen Y our device ’ s touch screen lets you easily select items or per form functions. Learn basic actions to use the touch screen. T o avoid scra tching the touch screen, do not use ● sharp tools. Do not allow the touch screen t o come into contact ● with other electrical devices.
Getting star ted 25 Double -tap: T ap t wice quickly with your finger to zoom in ● or out while viewing photos or web pages . Y our device turns off the touch screen when y ou do ● not use the device for a specified period . T o turn on the screen, pr ess the P ower/Lock key or the Home key .
Getting star ted 26 › Add it ems to the idle screen Y ou can customise the idle screen b y adding shor tcuts to applications or items in applications , widgets, or folders. T o add items to the idle scr een, Pr ess [ 1 ] → Add or tap and hold the empt y area on the idle screen.
Getting star ted 27 Use the shortcuts panel › In Idle mode or while using an application, tap the indicator icons area and dr ag your finger down t o open the shor tcuts panel. Y ou can ac tivate or deactivate wireless c onnec tion featur es and access a list of notifications, such as messages , calls, ev ents or proc essing status.
Getting star ted 28 T o change the order of the panels, tap and hold the ● thumbnail of a panel and drag it to the location y ou want. When you ar e finished, press [ 3 ]. Ac cess applications T o access your devic e’ s applications, In Idle mode, select 1 Applications t o access the application list.
Getting star ted 29 Organise applications › Y ou can organise applications in the application list b y changing their order or g rouping them into categories.
Getting star ted 30 T o change the order of the main menu screens , In the application list, place your two fingers on the scr een 1 and pinch. T ap and hold the thumbnail of a screen and drag it to the 2 location you wan t.
Getting star ted 31 C ustomise your devic e Get more from y our device by customising it to match y our pref erences. Set the current time and dat e › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Da te and time . Set the time and date and change other options.
Getting star ted 32 Adjust the brigh tness of the display › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Displa y → Brigh tness . Clear the check box next to 2 Aut omatic brightness . Drag the slider to adjust the lev el of brightness.
Getting star ted 33 Set an unlock PIN code In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Security → Screen lock → PIN . Enter a new PIN (numeric) and select 2 Con tinue .
Getting star ted 34 Once the PIN lock is enabled, y ou must enter the PIN each time you turn on the device . If you enter an incorr ec t PIN too many times , your SIM ● or USIM card will be blocked . Y ou must enter a PIN unlock key (PUK ) to unblock the SIM or USIM card .
Getting star ted 35 Enter t ex t Y ou can enter te xt by selecting charac ters on the vir tual keypad or by inputting handwriting on the screen. Y ou cannot enter te xt in some languages. T o enter text, you should change the writing language to one of the suppor ted languages.

Getting star ted 37 Enter t ext using the Swype keyboard › Select the first charac ter of a wor d and drag your finger 1 to the second character without r eleasing the finger from the screen. Continue until y ou have finished the wor d. 2 Release the finger on the last character .

Getting star ted 40 Install an application › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Market (Play Shop). Select 2 Accept when the terms and conditions appear . Search for a file or applica tion and download it. 3 Uninstall an application › F rom the Android Market home screen, press [ 1 ] → My Apps .
Getting star ted 41 Synchr onise data Y ou can synchronise data with various w eb ser vers and back up or restor e your data. Once the synchronisa tion is completed , your device stays connected to the web .
Getting star ted 42 Synchr onise data manually › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → A ccounts and sync . Select an account. 2 Select 3 Sync no w . Y our device will star t synchronising the data you set f or synchronisation.
Communication 43 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options av ailable dur ing a call or customising and using call-relat ed featur es. Communication 48 Set call for war ding Call diverting is a network feature t o send incoming calls to another number that you specify . Y ou can set this feature separately f or several conditions when you ar e not able to answer calls , such as when you ar e already on the phone or when you ar e outside of the ser vice area.
Communication 49 V iew call logs › Y ou can view logs of your calls filter ed by their types. In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Phone → Logs .

Communication 53 Organise email by labels › Y ou can organise your email b y labelling your messages or adding stars to mark impor tant messages. Y ou can sor t messages by label filter . Add a label to a message F rom the Inbox screen, tap and hold a message .

Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 3264 x 2448 pix els (8 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels . Entertainment 62 Captur e a panoramic photo › Y ou can take wide panoramic photos using P anorama shooting mode. This mode is c onvenient f or photographing landscapes. In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Camer a to turn on the camera.
Entertainment 63 Captur e a photo in Car toon mode › Y ou can take photos with cartoon effects. In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Camer a to turn on the camera. Select 2 → Shooting mode → C ar toon . Make any necessary adjustments.
Entertainment 64 Option F unction Effects Apply a special effect, such as sepia or black and white tones . Resolution Change the resolution option. White balance Adjust the colour balanc e according to lighting conditions . ISO Adjust the sensitivity of the camera imaging sensor .

Connectivity 103 C onnec tivit y Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of ex changing information over a distance of about 10 m without requiring a ph ysical connection. Y ou do not need to line up the devices to beam inf ormation with Bluetooth.
Connectivity 104 F ind and pair with other Bluetooth- enabled › devices In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Bluet ooth → Scan for de vices .
