4 2 Unpacking Instructions Introduction Your Avalon M ultiChannel Systems loudspeak ers were shipped in heavily padded cardboard containers to ensure their safe arrival.
5 Opening the Loudspea ker Container s Carefully cut the p acking tape on t he BOTTOM ONLY, open t he flaps to th e container and stand upright. Lift th e container off of the lou dspeakers vertical ly; the speakers stand upon prot ective foam padd ing.
6 Installing the Upper Gr illes The upper gril le assemb lies are c ontained within the accessory box (the lo wer gri lles are shipped in their installed p ositions). The gri lles are installed with friction fasteners and press into plac e on the speaker cabinet s.
7 3 Wiring Instructions Introduction The cross over is contai ned in a n on- accessible cha mber in the bott om of t he speaker cabinet . The SY MBOL is equipped wi th high -quality barrier t erminals for c onnect ing t he speaker cables. Ring termi nals or spa de lugs design ed for #1 0 screw s are recommende d for cable termin ation.
8 4 Break-in Period Your new Avalon MultiChannel Systems loudspeak ers have an init ial break -in period. They will not perform to their full sonic potentia l when first installed in your system. This is partially due to a resi dual p olarization of the di electric materi a ls used i n the crossover capacitors and internal wiri ng.
9 5 Maximizing Two Channel Performance Break- in The b reak-in p eriod is c ritical t o maxi mizing sonic performance and shoul d t ake place before oth er adjustment s (see t he discus sion on p age 8). The break -in sho uld begin with three to six hours of q uiet music, follow ed by 100 t o 150 hours of lo ud and dynamic source material .
10 Toe- In Adjusting the t oe-in angle of the speakers is useful i n t ailoring the sound to best match the characteristics of your system and list ening room . When the speakers are facing straight forward, they tend to creat e a large, expan sive sound -stage, paint ed with broad brush st rokes.
11 6 Care of Your Loudspeakers Cabinet (Hardwood Finis h) Avalon Multi Channel Systems’ hardw ood finished loudspeakers are supplied w ith a durable, hi gh q uality furniture lacquer. Always use a clea n, lint -free cloth to clean your cabinet , and b e especially careful near t he loudsp eaker drivers, so as not t o da mage the diaph ragms.
12 7 Warranty Your Avalon Multi Channel Systems SYMB OL SERIES l oudspeakers are warr anted agai nst defects in w orkmanship and materia ls for a period of t wo years fr om t he date of fi rst purchas.
