vehicle installation 13 2. Once you ha ve chosen your method of installa tion, next decide where in your vehicle you w ould like to mount your Xpr ess R . T he two included methods are ven t mount and swivel mount: 3. Next decide the best location for your XM ant enna.
Step 1: Mounting the XM Antenna Mount the XM antenna to the r oof or trunk of the vehicle . During installation, make sure y ou are outdoors and the ant enna is not obstruc ted by tall buildings . F or best results moun t the XM antenna to the outside of y our vehicle.
Step 2: Installing the V ent Mount or Swivel Mount Installing the vent mount T o install the vent mount, find a horizontal v ent that is strong enough t o hold your Xpress R and car cradle . T o remov e the vent mount, push it int o the vent and lift upwar ds slightly to r elease the mount ’ s hooks from the vent vane .
vehicle installation 16 Installing the swivel mount T o install the swivel mount, first find a suitable location. The swivel mount’ s adhesive is very strong and may be difficult to r emove . Do not install this mount on leather sur- faces and make sure the air t emperature is a t least 60°F (15°C ).
vehicle installation 17 Y ou can orient your swivel diff erent w ays to accommoda te the space av ailable in your v ehicle. If y ou ne ed t o re mov e t he mou nt, car efull y lift t he ad hesiv e pad with y our fingers or a spoon. W ar ming with a hair dr yer for sev eral minutes will help soften the adhesive .
vehicle installation 18 XM SureC onnect (S old Separately): Y ou can listen to your Xpr ess R through your v ehicle ’ s audio system b y using Xpress R ’ s built-in FM modula tor and the XM SureC onnect. Simply find an unused FM fr equency on the stereo and set your Xpr ess R to transmit on that same frequency .
