vehicle installation 12 Step 1: Mounting the XM Antenna Mount the XM antenna to the roof or trunk of the v ehicle. During installation, make sure you are out doors and the antenna is not obstruc ted b y tall buildings. For best r esults mount the XM antenna to the outside of your vehicle.
vehicle installation 13 Step 2: Installing the V ent Mount T o install the vent mount, find a horizontal vent that is strong enough to hold y our Xpress EZ and car cradle. T o remove the vent mount, push it into the v ent and lif t upwar ds slightly to release the mount’ s hooks from the vent vane.

Step 4: Making Y our V ehicle’ s FM Radio an XM Radio Y our Xpress EZ contains a built-in FM modulator tha t requires the use of either the XM SureConnect (sold separately) or the F M Direct Adapter (sold separately) to transmit the XM audio signal to your v ehicle’ s FM radio .
vehicle installation 16 This chart represents the FM channels in the Washingt on, DC area. The spikes repre- sent the strength of the F M channel. Someone in DC would choose a “vacant” channel like 92.9 that is unused and located between two weaker channels .

As you adjust the antenna the “Satellite ” and “ T er restrial” signal bars will change. F ind the position that gives the strongest signal strength on either “Satellite ” or “ T errestrial.
