7 G et started First steps to operate your phone SIM card information When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscripti on details, such as your PIN, and available optional services.
8 Get started Low battery indicator When the battery is low: • a warning tone sounds, • the battery low message displays, and • the empty battery icon blinks. If the battery lev el becomes too low , the phone automatically turns off . Recharge your batt ery .

Specify the contact information: First name, Last name, Mobile, Home, Office, F ax, Ot her , Email, Caller ID, Ringtone, Group, and Memo.

Changing the text input mode The text inpu t mode indicator appea rs when the cursor is in a text field .

Using T9 mode T9 is a predictive text input mode that allows you to key in any character using single keystrok es.

Call functions 27 Using the headset Use the headset to m ake or answer calls withou t holding the phone. Connect the he adset to the jack on th e right side of the phone. The buttons on the headset work as listed below: Options during a call Y ou can access a number of functions during a call.

Call functions 29 Sending a sequence of DTMF tones Dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones are the tones used in phones for tone diall ing. Y ou can send DTMF tones as a group after entering the entire number you need to send or retrieving a number from Phonebook.

44 Menu functions • Go to voice list : go to the list of voice memos you have recorded . • Setting : select a recording time setting. Limit for MMS : record a voice mem o for adding to an MMS message. Limit fo r Email : record a voice m em o for addi ng to an e-mail.
Me n u f u n c t i o n s Applications (Menu 3) 45 Stopping an alarm • When an alarm sounds, press < Exit > or any key to stop the alarm. • When a wake-up call alarm sounds, press < Confirm > or [ ] to stop the alarm. Otherwise, press < Snooze > or any key to stop the alarm and cause i t to sound again after 5 minutes.
46 Menu functions • New sync profile : add a new profile. • Edit sync profile : change the properties of the profile. • Delete : delete the selec ted profile or all profiles. Calcul ator (Menu 3. 8) Use this menu to perform basic arithmetic functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

If you select Automatic , the phone switches the encoding type from GSM-alphabet to Uni- code if you enter a Uni-code character . Use of Uni-code encoding will reduce the maximum number of characters in a message to about hal f .
60 Menu functions Outgoing message size : sele ct a maxi mum si ze of attached items allo wed for an MMS message. • Retrieve settings : set up the following options for receiv ing a multim edia message : Reject un known sender : reject m essages from unknown senders.

62 Menu functions • Protocol type : select the protocol for the incoming e-mail server . The remaining options depend on the protocol type setting. The following options are available when the protocol type is POP3 : • POP3 server : enter the IP address or domain name of the server that receives your e-mail.

Memory status (Menu 5.6) Use this menu to view the maximum memory and available memory for each message type. Y ou can also view the memory currentl y in use in each folder .
