Getting star ted 15 Batter y usage time Batteries are r eplacement items and ov er time the battery ’ s capacity to hold a charge and its pow er level is reduced . If a battery can only hold its charge for half of the time that it could when new , it is recommended t o purchase a new , replacement battery .

External devices 82 • Do not inser t warped, cracked , or heavily scrat ched disks. Doing so can damage the drive . • Do not eject disks while the status indicator light is on. • Y our external drive may diff er from the images used in this manual.
External devices 83 • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the computer . Using an incompatible card ma y damage the computer or the memory card, or corrupt the data stored in it . • Use caution to insert the memor y card in the indicated direction.
External devices 84 3 Selec t the pop-up message to open the memor y card f older . If a pop -up message appears, click the corr esponding window → Con tinue without scanning . 4 Selec t Open folder to view files . 5 Save , move, or delet e data on the memor y card.

External devices 86 C onnec ting to a display 1 Connect the VGA cable or micro HDMI cable to the corresponding port of the computer . When using a VGA cable, connect the VGA adapter to the computer first. A VGA adaptor is an optional item and may not be provided f or some models.
External devices 87 3 Connect the power c ord to the e xternal display . 4 T urn on the display and change its display mode to one that suppor ts an external input. 5 On the computer , open the Charms and selec t the Devices charm → Pr oject → Second screen .
External devices 88 Slim security slot Secure the computer t o an objec t by connecting the securit y lock (optional) to the security slot. The security slot is designed for Samsung Security Locks only , which are sold separately . O ther security locks will not fit in the slot.
89 T r oubleshooting Reco ver/Backup When a problem oc curs with the computer , it is possible to easily reco ver the computer back to the factor y default settings by using the Recov er y application (Recov er/Back up). It is also possible to rec over the computer t o a previously backed up point.
T roubleshooting 90 2 Selec t Recov er . Reco vering t o fac tor y default Recov er the computer to factory default settings. If necessar y , back up impor tant data to an external storage devic e before restoring the sy stem. See Back ing up the current sy stem.

T roubleshooting 93 C opying the hard driv e (mak ing a disk image) T o replace the har d drive , move the da ta to the new drive by making a disk image. The new drive must be lar ge enough to hold the data from the curr ent drive . Pur chase an ex ternal hard driv e connector separately to c onnec t the new drive to the c omputer .
T roubleshooting 94 5 After the data is sav ed to another drive, open the co ver at the bottom of the comput er and replace the existing driv e with the new one. If the cover is difficult t o open, contact the Samsung Ser vice Cent er to request assistanc e.
T roubleshooting 95 5 F ollow the on-screen instructions to complete cr eating the disk image. 6 Disconnect the external storage device and stor e it in a safe place . T o reco ver the comput er to the factor y default settings with the factor y image, connect the external storage device .
