USB Connection - Connect a standard USB cable from this port to the USB con- nection on a computer or iPad t o provide power t o the keyboard, as well as to send and receive MIDI da ta.
11 Carbon 49 · USB/MIDI Keyboard Controller Quick Star t 1. Connect the Carbon 49 to your comput er or iPad using the supplied USB cable. The unit will receiv e power and transmit MIDI data via the USB connection. Slide the POWER switch to the left to turn on the keyboard.
12 Basic Operation The Carbon 49 has two operation modes: P erformance Mode and Edit Mode . Performance Mode - In this mode, the 49 velocity-sensitiv e keys transmit note and velocity information via the USB or MIDI output. The assignable controllers , pitch bend and modulation wheels all transmit continuous con troller information.
13 Carbon 49 · USB/MIDI Keyboard Controller VOL UME F ader The VOL UME fader sends MIDI information to con trol the per formance of the de- vice that is connected to the keyboard . The factor y setting is channel volume , but can be assigned to another parameter in Edit Mode .
14 Edit Mode is where you can acc ess and adjust the parameters of the Carbon 49 to suit your needs. T o access Edit Mode, press the EDIT button on the t op panel of the keyboard. The button will light blue, and the display will r ead “Set” to indicate that you are in Edit Mode.
15 Carbon 49 · USB/MIDI Keyboard Controller Edit Mode Assigning Controllers BANK MSB & LSB In order to store mor e than the 128 patches, devices generally arrange pa tches into multiple banks.
16 Edit Mode ASSIGN TRANS Press the ASSIGN TRANS key to change the function that the TRANSPOSE “+” and “-” buttons control . There are thr ee parameters that can be assigned: 1 - T ranspose 2 - Program Change 3 - MIDI Channel When pressed, the curr ent function number will ash on the display .
17 Carbon 49 · USB/MIDI Keyboard Controller RESET ALL The RESET ALL function sets all of the Carbon 49 controller values to their defaults. When you press the RESET ALL function key , the display will rst show “No” (indicating that you do not want t o reset all functions).
