2 Introduction Thank you f or purchasing the Hydrive Bass C ombo Amplifier from Hartke! W e k now you don ’t like r eading owners manuals, but y ou’ ve just purchased one of the finest bass amplifiers around, and w e want to tell y ou about it.

4 4 Har tke 112C,115C and 210C C ombo Bass Amplifier F eatures The Hartke Hydrive Combos offer all the newest c oncepts in state- of-the-ar t hybrid drive bass amplification in an extremely compact size and affor dable price.
5 • Specially designed cabinet which can be used either flat on the floor or on its “kick back ” position for increased high end clarity . • A rear panel, line-level direct output, with PRE/POST switch on standard XLR connector is provided f or interfacing with P A systems or recor ding mixing consoles.
6 Guided T our - F ron t P anel 1. INPUT (1/4-inch Jack) - Connect your bass guitar to this standar d 1/4" unbalanced jack. T his Hydrive Combo Input has been designed to handle the sig nals from just about any bass with either passive pickups or with hotter pickups if y our bass has active electronics (that is, if it has a battery).
7 Guided T our - F ron t P anel 8. BRITE (control knob ) – This knob set the amount of high frequency tone control used to drive the harmonics in the Bass Attack Overdriv e.

9 Setting Up and Using Y our Hartke Hydriv e C ombo Bass Amplifier Setting up your Hartke H ydrive C ombo Bass Amplifier is a simple procedure which takes only a f ew minutes: 1. Remove all packing materials (save them in case of need for future service) and decide where the amplifier is to be physically placed .
8. Adjust the Bass, T reble and Graphic Equaliz er controls to tast e. ( When you get a grea t setting that complement's your instrument and pla ying style, it’ s a good idea to write it down f or future use.
11 12. If you need to connect the Hydrive Combo to a P A system or a recording mixing c onsole, connect a cable between the rear-panel Direct Out and a Line -level input on the mix er . (See E on page 8 in this manual for more inf ormation on the use of the Hydrive Combo Dir ect Out).
12 12 The E ffect of the Shape Con trol The Hydrive's unique Shape contr ol enables the sound of your bass instrument to be enhanced a t the touch of a button. When the front panel Shape switch is pressed in, a special equalization curve is activated that is designed to impro ve the sound of most electric bass instruments.
13 Using the Bass A ttack O ver driv e The Hydrive combos f eature Hartke’ s Bass Attack Overdrive circuit allo wing you to add a little tube type overdrive , some edgy dirt or all out fuzz. The Bass A ttack Overdrive operates with thr ee controls; the rst is Harmonics, which is used t o set the amount of over drive.
14 Using E qualization The Hartke Systems Hydrive Combos Bass Amplifier gives you enormous con trol over shaping the sound of your bass, using a pr ocess called equalization .
15 In many instances, the best wa y to deal with equalization is to think in terms of which frequency areas you need to attenua te, as opposed to which ones y ou need to boost.
