9 Section 1: Getting Started 1.3 Battery Warning : T o reduce risk of re or bur ns, do not disassemble, cr ush, puncture, short e xternal contacts, heat above 60 ℃ (140 ℉ ), or dispose of in re or water . Replace only with manufacturer specied batteries.
10 Section 1: Getting Started Data Retention It is vital to kee p you r battery char g ed. Because you r PPC6600 does not have a hard drive, all data and any new programs you install are stored in RAM. If the batter y completely drains, any data or new progr ams you installed will be erased.
11 Section 1: Getting Started - or - Plug the A C Adapter into the optional USB ca ble head and then connect your PPC6600 directl y to an external power sour ce. - or - Plug the A C Adapter into the optional AC Adapter Converter and then connect the sync connector of your PPC6600 directly to an e xternal power source without using the cradle.

(The PPC6600 will power up and, if this is the rst time it has powered up, will automatically begin the initiation/calibration process.

22 Section 2: Getting to know Your PPC6600 2.2 Entering Information Y ou can enter inf or mation on your device in several ways, depending on the type of progr am you are using. Synchronizing - Using ActiveSync, exchang e information between your PC and device.
23 Section 2: Getting to know Your PPC6600 Typing on the QWERTY Keyboard 1 . Slide the main screen upward to r e veal the QWERTY keyboard. 2. T o type low ercase letter s, press the keys with your ngers. 3. T o type a single upper case letter , press the key follow ed b y the desired letter key .

(Y ou can also tap and hold any key and then drag the stylus to the left across at least two others to back up one space.) 6. 27 Section 2: Getting to know Your PPC6600 Using Profiles The Letter Shapes selector supports two proles by tapping File > Master or Guest : Master : T ypically used by the PPC6600's pr imar y user . This prole is unaffected by any Guest user settings.
28 Section 2: Getting to know Your PPC6600 2.3 Writing on the Screen In any prog ram that accepts writing, such as the Notes progr am, and in the Notes tab in Calendar , Contacts, and T asks, you can use y our stylus to wr ite directly on the screen. Write the way y ou do on paper .

If you want to conv er t only certain wor ds, select them befor e tapping Recognize on the T ools menu (or tap and hold the selected words and then tap Recognize on the pop up menu).
30 Section 2: Getting to know Your PPC6600 2.4 Drawing on the Screen You can draw on the screen in the same way that you write on the screen. The difference between writing and drawing on the screen is how you select items and how they can be edited. For example, selected drawings can be re- siz ed, while writing cannot.

34 Section 3: Sprint PCS Service Features 3.1 About Your Phone Like a stan dard mobile phone you can use your PPC 6600 to kee p track of calls and send SMS messa ges. Y ou can also take notes while talking and dial directly fr om Microsoft ® Contacts.

Call Histor y can also tell you when a call was initiated, how long it lasted, and provides easy access to an y notes taken during the call.
