12 788 928 5 Saab 9-3 M03- Important WA R N I N G Work on the heater involve s dismantling t he vehi- cle fuel system and emptyin g the fuel tan k. When carrying out the work the following points should therefore be obser ved: · Provide good ventilation! Use appro ved extrac- tors for removing fuel fume s if they are availa- ble.

12 788 928 7 Saab 9-3 M03- 1 Disconnect the negative batter y cable. 2 Remove the cap fro m the expansion tank. 3 Raise the car . 4 Remove the b olts from the forward se ction of the exhaust system. 5 Remove the exhaust system. 6 Place a recept acle under the engine, op en the drain plug on the bo ttom of the coolant pump and drain the coolant.
8 12 788 928 Saab 9-3 M03- 7 Unplug the connector at the fron t of the fuel t ank and detach the wiring harness from its moun ting. 8 Place a pillar jack un der the fuel t ank and undo the tank mountin g straps. 9 Separ ate the fuel lines using tool 83 95 261 and plug the fuel line t ank connections in order to prevent fuel spill.
12 788 928 9 Saab 9-3 M03- 22 Unplug the connector fr om the air mass se nsor , separate the intake hose and remove the air fil- ter cover . Remove the hose from the air filter cover (if such a hose is fitted). 23 Remove from the turbo int ake pipe the sma ll hose to the control valve (APC valve) and the hose to the carbon filte r vent-valve.
10 12 788 928 Saab 9-3 M03- 27 Fit the hose clip s (including the old clip) o nto the new coolant ho ses. Connect the hose /pipe assembly between the thermost at housing con- nection and the heat exchanger connection nearest to the exp ansion t ank. Do not screw the assembly to the bulkhead.

14 12 788 928 Saab 9-3 M03- 51 Position the fuel pump bracket up against the vehicle floor , on the righ t-hand side in fron t of the fuel tank, and drill holes using a 3.5 mm drill. 52 Deburr the holes and remove loose swarf and paint p articles. Clean with T eroson Cleaner FL and apply S tandox 1K primer .
