4 n Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when per- forming an ope ration where the cutting tool may con- tact hidden wiring. Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator. n Know your power too l.
5 n An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shock. If extension cord must be used, make sure: a . 9 FEA TURES KNOW YOUR HAMMER DRILL See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. SWITCH Y our hammer drill has a conveniently located trigger switch. TWO-SPEED GEAR TRAIN The hammer drill has a two-speed gear train designed for drilling or driving at LO (1) or HI (2) speeds.
10 ASSEMBL Y UNP ACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories fr om the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list ar e included. n Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
11 CHARGING THE BA TTERY P ACK The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low char ge condition to prevent possible problems. Ther efore, you should charge it until the gr een LED on the front of the char ger comes on. NOTE: Batteries will not reach full char ge the first time they are charged.
12 OPERA TION CHARGING A HOT BA TTERY P ACK When using the tool continuously , the batteries in the battery pack will become hot. Y ou should let a hot battery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to rechar ge.

14 20 OPERA TION WARNING: The hammer drill should never be connected to a power supply when you ar e assembling parts, making adj ustme nts, cleani ng, perf ormi ng main tena nce, or when the tool is not in use. Disconnecting the tool will pr event accidental starting that could cause serious injury .
15 2 0 24 5 OPERA TION ADJUSTING THE TORQUE See Figure 11. The hammer drill is equipped with an adjustable torque clutch for driving dif ferent types of scr ews into differ ent materials.
16 20 15 OPERA TION USING THE LEVELS See Figure 13. T wo levels are recessed in the motor housing of the hamme r drill. One is located on top, while the other is located on the end. They can be used to keep drill bits level during both horizontal and vertical drilling operations.

18 MAINTENANCE BA TTERIES The bat tery pac k for thi s tool is equ ipp ed with nicke l-ca dmiu m rechar geable batteries. Length of service from each charging will depend on the type of work you are doing. The batteries in this tool have been designed to provide maximum trouble-fr ee life.
