8 9 FEA TURES KNOW YOUR DRILL-DRIVER See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this pr oduct, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. BIT STORAGE Bits provided with the drill can be placed in the storage areas, located on the base of the drill.
10 11 ASSEMBL Y UNP ACKING This product has been shipped completely assembled. n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories fr om the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. n Inspect the tool car efully to make sur e no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
10 11 OPERA TION NOTE: Batteries will not r each full charge the first time they are charged. Allow several cycles (operation followed by rechar ging) for them to become fully charged. CHARGING A COOL BA TTERY P ACK If battery pack is within normal temperature range, the red LED on char ger will come on.
12 13 OPERA TION CHARGING A HOT BA TTERY P ACK When using the tool continuously , the batteries in the battery pack will become hot. Y ou should let a hot battery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to rechar ge.

14 15 OPERA TION TWO-SPEED GEAR TRAIN See Figure 7. The drill has a two-speed gear train designed for drilling or driving at LOW (1) or HIGH (2) speeds.

NOTE: Rotate the chuck body in the direction of the ar- row marked UNLOCK to loosen the chuck jaws.
16 17 OPERA TION QUICK MODE SELECTOR See Figure 12. The Quick Mode Selector allows you to quickly switch from drill mode to drive mode. In general, drill mode should be used for drilling and other heavy duty applications. Drive mode should be used for driving screws.

18 19 DRILLING See Figure 17. n Check the direction of rotation selector for the correct setting (forward or reverse).� n Secure the material to be drilled in a vise or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit rotates.� n Hold the drill firmly and place the bit at the point to be drilled.

20 21 MAINTENANCE CHUCK REMOV AL See Figures 18 - 20. The chuck may be removed and r eplaced by a new one. n Lock the swit ch trig ger by placing the directio n of rotation selector in center position. n Insert a 5/16 in. or larger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely.
