8 9 SPEED AND WIRING The no-load speed of this tool is approximately 3,050 rpm. This speed is not constant and decreases under a load or with lower voltage. For voltage, the wiring in a shop is as important as the motor’ s horsepower rating. A line intended only for lights cannot pr operly carry a power tool motor .

12 13 UNP ACKING This product r equires assembly . n Carefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Place it on a level work surface. NOTE: This tool is heavy . T o avoid back injury , lift with your legs, not your back, and get help when needed.

16 17 CHECKING/ADJUSTING LASER ALIGNMENT See Figure 15. Check the laser alignment to ensure the intersection of the laser lines is precisely at the spot where the drill bit meets the workpiece. If it is not, the laser lines should be adjusted using the laser adjustment knobs located on opposite sides of the head assembly .

18 19 OPERA TION SELF-EJECTING CHUCK KEY See Figure 17. The self-eje cting chuck key ensur es the chuck key is remo ved from the chuck befor e the drill press is turned on. In order to loosen or tighten the chuck using the chuck key , push the key into the key hole located on the chuck.
20 21 OPERA TION DRILLING See Figure 20. n Usi ng the vis e pr ovi ded or simi lar cla mpi ng devi ce, se cure the wor kpi ece to the workt abl e. To pr ote ct the top surfa ce of the workpiece, use a piece of scrap wood between the vise and the workpiece.
20 21 ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Before performing any adjustment, make sure the tool is unplugged from the power supply . Failure to heed this warning could result in serious personal injury . ADJUSTING T ABLE HEIGHT See Figure 21. n Hold the table with one hand and loosen the table lock handle.
22 23 CHANGING SPEEDS See Figure 24. The spindle speed is determined by the location of the belt on the pulleys inside the head assembly . The speed chart located on the cover inside the head assembly shows the recommended speed and pulley configuration for each drill- ing operation.
