2 Introduction The Audiovox MP3 is a personal, compact, non-mechanical player designed for clear , skip-free digital audio playback. Download MP3 files from your PC hard drive into the player via USB Port, cable included. Its On-board flash memory and optional 128 Megabyte Smart Media Card, lets you enjoy CD quality music, for up to 6 hours.
3 2 . Accessories Included • Earphones • USB Cable • Carry case with belt clip • MP3 Manager Software 3. Connecting Player to your PC 1) Connect one end (mini plug) of data transfer cable to the connector slot located on the left side of Player .
4 2. Installing USB DriverProcedur e After connecting the MP3 Player to your computer , install the MP3 Player software (USB driv er) from the CD-R OM.
5 3 . When the Add New Hardware W izar d dialog box appears, insert the MP3 Player software CD in the CD-R OM drive, then click “ Next > ”. 4 . Select the “ Search for the best driver f or yo.
6 5. Select the CD-ROM drive, then click “ Next > ”. 6 . Follow the instructions on the screen. For Windo ws 2000 users : When the following dialog bo x appears, click “ Ye s ” to continue.
7 7. W indows system has f ound the dri ver , then click “ Next > ” to in- stall MP3 Player driver . 8. When a dialog box similar to the one shown belo w appears, click “ Finish ”.
8 3 . Installing MP3 MAN A GER Downloading Software 1 ) Turn on your computer 2 ) Insert Install CD disc into CD R OM, run CD ROM Dri ve with “setup e xe. ” by double clicking on “My Computer” followed by clicking on the CD ROM drive. 3 ) Follow the instructions on the screen.
9 6) Click “ Next > ” 7 ) Select “ Y es, launch the pro- gram file ” then click “ Finish ”. NOTE: Y ou may have to reboot your computer be- fore launching the MP3 manager. 8 ) When Installation is complete, the “MP3 Manager” icon will be on your desktop.
10 THE DO WNLO ADER PR OGRAM Using the MP3 Manager The MP3 Manager is used to manage the files on your MP-1164. Use this program to transfer files back and forth between your PC and your MP-1164, change the order of songs on your MP-1164, and format the onboard and/or SMC memory .
If an error message appears stating “MP3 Player Not Detected on USB Port” please check the following: 1 ) The unit is properly connected to the USB Port through the supplied accessory cable. 2 ) The unit is powered on (press the Play button ( ) on the MP-1164.
12 Changing the order of files on the MP-1164: 1 ) Select the file you wish to re-order from the b uilt-in memory or SMC window . 2 ) Click, hold, and drag the file to its new position. Let go of the mouse button. 3) Y our selected file should now be in its ne w position.
Refomatting the MP-1164 : Due to normal usage, some portions of space are lost in the Built-in and SMC memory of your MP-1164. Use the format icon (deletes ALL data on the MP-1164) from time to time as a maintenance measure to reclaim all free space on your unit.
1 Player Operation 1. How to use Control Buttons (In order to make all control buttons active, be sure the hold switch is in the unlocked position . Power ON and OFF : Press and hold button (1) for 1 second --- Po wer ON. Press and hold button (1) for 3 seconds --- Po wer OFF .

15 HOLD switch When HOLD switch is ON, all b utton functions will be deacti vated. “KEY HOLD” and “Good Bye” will show on the display , then the unit will automatically power down.
