3 I. Cautions and Warnings A. Cautions Never use any sam ple hose other than those appr ove d for use wit h the ID900. The use o f ot her hose t y pe s may introduc e errors and excessive refrigerant loss.

5 III. Hardware Description A. Instrument : The instrument houses the b a sic com ponents requi r ed for operat i o n of t h e I D 900 as dep i ct ed abov e.
6 B. Sample Hoses 1. R12 Sam pl e H ose: i s a 6- foot hose consis ti ng of a ny l on inner tube surr oun ded by a po l y ur et hane out er tube. The hose contains the instrument connection fitting on one end and a ¼” SAE fe male flare nut on the other end.
7 IV. Operation Procedure A. Pre-Operati ve Inspection 1. Inspect the outside dia meter of the white element co ntained within the sample filter for an y signs of red spots. The appearance of red sp ots anywhere on the outside diameter of th e element ind icates that the filter req uires replacement to avoid foulin g o f t he i nst r um e nt .
8 5. When prom pted by the instrum ent, conne ct the free end of the samp le hose to the vehicle ai r conditioning system or refrigerant st orage cy l i nder por t and press the “A” pus hb utt on. Sample gas wil l imm ediately begin t o flow into the instrument.
9 V. Maintenance A. Error Codes and Corrective Actions The instrument is supp lied with self-diagn ostic software to aid the user in th e determination of proble ms. The software will supply error codes that will direct th e user towards specific corrective actions in the event o f system failure.
10 Warning: Should it be determined that th e air detectio n calibra tion failure has been caused by the presence of oxygen depleting compou nds i n t he surr ou ndi ng atmosphere t he use MU ST t a ke imm ediate action to ri d t he area of such compounds or provide adequate ventila tion to prevent such accumula tion.
