1 1 Getting Started 1.1 Understanding Hardware Components NOTE: Depending upon th e specific model pur chased, the color of your device may n ot exactly match the device sho wn in this m anual. Front Compone nts Ref Component Description Touch Screen Displays the output o f your de vice.
2 Back Comp onents Ref Component Description External GPS Antenna Connector This connector (under rubber dust cover) allows use of a n op tional external GPS antenna with magnetic mount, which may be positioned on top of the car for better signal receptio n in areas with poor r eception.

5 1.3 Charging the Battery via the USB Cable When charging the battery for the v ery first t ime, you s hould charg e it for at least 8 hours. 1. Turn on the com puter. 2. Connect t he mini- USB end of the USB cable to the bo ttom of your device and the other end to a U SB port on y our computer.
6 1.4 Using Your Device in a Vehicle A car holder and a c ar charger are supp lied with your device. Using the Car Holder CAUTION: Select an a ppropriate location for the car holder. Never place the holder where the d river’s field of vision is blocked.
7 Connec ting the Car Charger The car charger sup plies po wer to your device whe n you are using the device in a car. CAUTION: To protect your device against sudden surges in current, connect the car charger only after the car e ngine has been started .

10 1.6 Inserting a SD/MMC Card Your device has a SD /MMC slot wher e you can insert an optional Secu re Digital or MultiMediaCard s torage card. To use a SD/MMC card, insert it i nto the s lot, with the connector po inting to the slot an d its label facing the front o f the device.
11 2 Audio Player 2.1 Introduction Audio Player fea tures: Playback of MP3/WA V/WMA files Basic playback con trols such as play , pause, stop, next and previous Playback includes si ngle selection play back, repeat, si ngle repeat, sam pling playback, norm al sequence and random sequence.
12 2.2 Preparing the Audio Files for Your Device Before using the p rogram, hav e the files ready on ei ther your device’s My Flash DiskMy Audio fo lder or on a storag e card. Use ActiveSy nc to copy files from your com puter to the correct location.

19 3 Troubleshooting and Maintenance 3.1 Resetting Your System Occasionally, y ou may need to reset y our device. For example, you shoul d reset your system when it stops responding ; or appears to be “frozen” or “lock ed up.” Insert a small rod, s uch as a straightened p aperclip, into the reset button on the bottom of y our device.
20 Screen Problems Screen responds slowly Make sure that y our device is not running out of battery power. If the pr oblem still exists, reset y our system . Screen freezes Reset your system . Screen is hard to read Make sure that the b acklight of the display is on.
