8 RDV -1050 DVD Player Connecting to Audio Equipment with a Digital Input Y ou can enhance the sound quality by con- necting the OPTICAL DIGIT AL OUTPUT or COAXIAL DIGIT AL OUTPUT of the RDV -1050 to the digital input of an amplifier , DA T or MD by using an optional digital cable.
9 English Using the SCART Connector If you have the European version of the RDV -1050 and your TV has a SCART connec- tor you can use a SCART cable for stereo audio and video connections. See the following sec- tion for information on setting the Video Sig- nal Selector Switches.
10 RDV -1050 DVD Player Precautions for the Safe Use of Batteries Obser ve the following precautions for the safe use of batteries. If they are used improperly their life will be shortened, they may burst or their contents may leak. • Remove the batteries from the remote con- trol if it will not be used for a long period of time.
11 English DVD-RAM discs created using a personal computer and which do not comply with the video recording standard cannot be played back. DVD-RAM and DVD-RW discs that com- ply with the CPRM, and on which material that may be copied only once is recorded, cannot be played back.
12 RDV -1050 DVD Player Getting Started Tu r ning On the RDV -1050 With the TV/DVD switch 1 set to DVD, press the DVD POWER button 17 on the RR-DV96. Or press the ST ANDBY button on the front panel. The display window will light indicat- ing the RDV-1050 is “on”.

14 RDV -1050 DVD Player Resuming Playback The RDV -1050 can remember the position on a disc where you interrupt playback and re- sume playback from that position later . There are three resume modes; ON, OFF and DISC RESUME. The mode is set at the factor y to ON.
15 English To Play Disc in Slow Motion Y ou can select from 1/32 times, 1/16 times, 1/4 times and 1/2 times normal speed. During playback, press II (P AUSE) 28 , then press 30 (to play for ward slow motion), or 11 (to play reverse slow motion, for DVD VIDEO disc only).
16 RDV -1050 DVD Player Locating a Scene From the Menu of a SVCD/Video CD with PBC Some SVCD/Video CD discs support the PBC function. PBC is an abbreviation of “Playback Control.” Some SVCD/Video CD discs re- corded with PBC have their own menus, such as a list of the songs on the disc.
17 English Playing a Bonus Group on a DVD AUDIO disc Some DVD AUDIO discs contain a special group called “bonus group” whose contents are not opened to the public. The bonus group is assigned to the last group of a disc. T o play back a bonus group, you have to enter a specific “key number” for the bonus group.
