2 HydraVision™ In addition to the mult iple di splay functionality available wi th ATI’s Catalyst Sof tware Suite, you can also use HydraVision for adva nced multi-monitor managem ent. For more information on HydraVision, please refer to the page 25.
3 Installing Your RADEON™ Now that you ha ve prepare d your computer, you are read y to ins tall your R ADEON™ graphics accelerat or card. To install your graphic s accelerator card 1. Power off the computer and monitor , then disconnect the displa y cable from the back of your computer.

5 Connecting your monitor(s) The RADEON Series, depending on the graphi c card configuration, provides hardware support for one VGA monitor and one flat panel monitor, or two VGA monitors using a DVI- I-to-VGA adapter*, or only one VG A monitor. It also provides TV Output via a S-Video out connector.

7 Installing Your RADEON Soft Driver New hardware w ill be detect ed after you res tart your com puter. To fini sh below steps click Yes when prompted to restart. 1. 8 Windows “New Hardware Found” To identify new ha rdware in Window s 98 or Window s Me 1. Windows ® 98 or Windows ® Me may launch the “Upd ate Device Driver Wizard” to install the St andard VGA Driver. If it do es, fol low the step-by-step instruct ions below to allow Windows ® to correctly identi fy your new hardware.
9 To install the ATI driver for Windows 98 or Window s Me 1. Insert the ATI INSTALLATION CD into yo ur CD-ROM drive. If Windows runs the CD automatical ly, proceed to step 6. 2. Click Start . 3. Select Run . 4. Type the following: D:ATISETUP (If D is not your CD -ROM drive, sub stitute D with the correct d rive letter.

11 Catalyst™ Software Suite The following section provides an explanation of each ATI tab available after installing the Catalyst™ So ftware Suite. ATI Displays Tab The ATI Displays tab provides the multi moni tor features. Here you can enable/disable display devices and swap the assignment of Primary and Secondary displays.
12 3 Click on the ATI Displays tab. In Windows ® XP, Window s ® Me The ATI Displays tab shows you the display(s) that are active. The Primary display has the button depr essed. To change the display assignment, you can click the Primary display’s button or you can click the button of the other display device.
13 ATI Color Tab The ATI Color tab is used to adjust t he color se ttings. You can change the red, green and blue display colors. Desktop brightness and Game Gamma (brightne ss) can also be changed. ATI Colo r Tab Desktop Brightness This increases or decreases the b rightness of your desktop.
14 ATI Options Tab The ATI Options tab provides detailed driv er information and access to the ca rd’s specifications. You can also enable or disable the ATI taskbar icon. ATI Options Tab Version Information Provides the Catalyst version number , 2D version number and the driver build information.
15 Show ATI icon on taskbar Unchecking this allow s you to remove the ATI icon from your system tray w ithout disab ling the ATI icon applica tions. Disable quick resolution feature Quick resolu tion feature is accessible by left clicking the ATI icon in the system tray.
16 Clone Mode Settings Clone Mode Options Standard Video content is displayed o n your Primary display only. Theater Mode Video content is displayed o n your Primary and Second ary displays. Video content is displayed on your S econdar y dis play(s ) is al ways in full s cre en mode.
17 Direct 3D ® Control Panel Using this tab, gamers can fine -tune the settings for Direct 3D ® games. Main and Custom Settings In the Main Settings you can maximize overall performance by moving the slider to the left, or you can enhance overall image qual ity by moving the slider to the right.
18 Texture Preference slider Selecting this decides whether your application should use high quality or high performance textures. Moving the slider to the right delivers the highest quality expe rience. Moving the slider to the left emphasizes a high performance solution w hile still providing good visuals.
19 OpenGL ® Control Panel Using this tab, gamers can fi ne-tune the settings for OpenGL ® games. Main and Custom Settings In the Main Settings you can maxim ize overall performance by moving the slider to the left, or you can enhance overall image qual ity by moving the slider to the right.
20 Mipmap Detail Lev el slider This will allow you to choo se the texture quality of the mipmaps the application w ill use. Mipmaps are a collection of different sized textures of the same image. As the user moves closer to a 3D object the image quality sho uld increase, requirin g a higher qu ality texture of the same image.
21 SMARTGART™ SMARTGART is a s uite of testin g and diagnostics tools that perf orm a variety of bus tests to determine the optimal settings for your AT I gr aphics accelerato r installed in your computer. SMARTGART automatically configures your gr aphics device to the optimal settings.
22 View your PC’s display on a TV Your RADEON Series has TV Out capability. Y ou can attach your card to a TV and monitor at the same time. Or you can connect it to your VCR and record your monitor’s display. TV display is ideal for playing gam es, giving pr esentations, watching movies, and browsing the Internet.
23 1 Access the Windows ® Control Panel . Double-click Displ ay . 2 Click on the Settings tab and then the Advanced... button. 3 Click on the ATI Displays tab. Click on the TV button. 4 Click the enable/disable button. 5 Click OK or Apply to save the changes.
24 When using a TV for your PC’s display, you may see som e edge distortion on the left and right side of your TV screen. This effect de pen ds on your TV and the PC application you are running. To reduce edge distortion, you can increase the TV display’s horizontal size.

26 The Desktop Management Dialog The Desktop Manage ment dialog lets you determine the be havior of pop-up windo ws and dialog boxes in a multip le monitor environme nt. Dialog control: Enable dialog repositionin g—Toggl es di al og con trol o n and of f.

28 The Hot Keys D ialog Create/Rem ov e Hot Key s To create custom hot ke y sequen ces, select a Modifier key (Shift, Alt, etc.), a Hot key , and the Hot key function you want this key combination to perform. Click Add to enter yo ur new comb ination in the Assigned hot keys list box.
