Gettin g S tarted 1 Getting Star ted Inser ting the SIM car d and batter y When you register with a servic e pr ovider , you receive a SIM card (Sub scriber Ide ntity Module card).
Getting S tarted 2 3. Place th e new SIM card in the lower right cor ner . The gold plate on the SIM card should face downward. 4. Slide the SIM card into position, then secure it under the metal clip s.

Getting S tarted 4 Char ging the ba tter y 1. Connect th e charge r plug to an outlet. 2. Conn ect the charge r to the socket at the bottom of the phone. The connec tor can only be inserte d one way . When the batter y is charging, a batter y icon appear s in the disp lay sc reen .
Gettin g S tarted 5 Low Battery Indicator The battery in dicator in the upp er ri ght corner of t he screen indica tes how much charge remains in the ba ttery . As additional reminders, when the battery is low , the p hone emits a double beep. The messag e “battery low” also appears on the screen.
Getting S tarted 6 Making a call 1. Enter the nu mber you wish to dial. If you make a mistake, press the right soft key below Clear to delete the number . T o delete the en tire numbe r , press and hold the key . 2. Press the send/answer key to connect.
Using Y our Phone 7 Using Y our Phone Standb y mode When your phone is on, but not in use, it is in st andby mode . During st andb y mode, the up per pa rt of the display screen shows various icons. The date and time is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Using Y our Phone 8 The S tandby screen ico ns are as follows: Bars indicate th e strength of the network signa l. Five bars means your current position has the best rece ption. Alarm is set. A text message has been received. A multimedia message has been received.
Using Y our Phone 9 Menu T o view the menu, select the lef t menu/sof t ke y from the main display . Af ter the menu appea rs, scroll through me nu items by pr essing the up and down navigation key . Beneat h th e ma in m en u ar e Select , to the lef t, and Exit , to the right.

Using Y our Phone 11 Here are the icons for categories in the main menu : Phoneboo k stores name s and telephon e numbers for easy access and caller rec ogni- tion. Call Logs stores information abo ut made , received, and missed calls. Messages provide s access to received mes- sages and allows you to compose and send text and multimedia messages.
Using Y our Phone 12 Fun and Gam es has a num ber of games as well as tools to manipula te audio and pi c- tures. Settings let s you adjust settings including time, display , and security settings. W AP provides you with wireless access to the inter ne t an d e- m ail.

Y ou can enter letters individually or with predictive text entry , which helps you complete words as you enter them.

Using Y our Phone 16 For practice, try entering tex t into a text message (SMS). From the menu, go to Messages > New SM S . T o enter th e word, “hello,” first make sure that the entry method is set to multit ap. Press Options , then select Input Method .

Calling Features 18 Calling F ea tures R edialing a n umber 1. Press the send/answer key . A list of dialed numbers appears, with the last number dia led at the end of the list. 2. Select the number you wish to dial then press the send/a nswer k ey . Dialed numbers ca n also be accessed from Call Logs>Di aled.
Calling Feat ures 19 Canceling an i ncoming call If you want to cancel an incoming call, press the power/ end key . Depending on you r service provider , the caller may be transferr e d to yo ur voice mail, or may receive a busy signal.
Calling Features 20 Dialed and received calls Call Logs also contain lists of dialed and receive d calls . T o dial one of these numbers, follow the same process as for returnin g a missed call.
Calling Feat ures 21 Silent mode During silent mode , the phone vib rates for an incoming call. Press and hold the key to enable or disable silent mod e. When silent mode is not enabled, the icon appears in the st an dby screen. When silent mode is enabled, the icon appear s.
Calling Features 22 Timing calls Depending on th e typ e of service p ackage you h ave, you may p ay according to the length of your ca lls. Some users like to monitor the leng th of their calls.
Calling Feat ures 23 Emer g enc y calls Service pr ovide rs m ay pr ov ide access to emergency numbers. These numbe rs ar e generally th e same as landline emer gency numbers. Se rvice providers may even p rovide access to emergency numbers when the phone is locked or the SIM card is not inserted.
Phonebook 24 Phonebook The phone book enables you to stor e informatio n about your cont act s, including phone numbe rs, fax numbers, addresses, and e-mail addr esses. Y ou can also assign special information for cont act s, such as ringtones, pictures, and grou ps .
Phonebook 25 Other options for cont act s There are ad ditional form field s for information such as fa x numbe r or addr ess . Y ou ca n also cus t om iz e sou n d an d sig ht features by setting a special ri ng ton e or picture for a cont act’ s incoming calls.
Phonebook 26 Searching for a cont act 1. T o search fo r a cont act, ente r a cont act’ s name. Y ou may also se arch by entering only th e first letter or letters of the name. 2. Press the send/answer key to search. T o view all cont act s stored on the SIM card, select SIM List .
Phonebook 27 Editing a group list. 1. Go to Phonebook>Opt ions>Grou p List. Select a g roup, then select View . 2. Informatio n fie lds appea r for name, pictur e and ringto ne. Select any of these fields to edit them. The phone comes with five pre set group s: VIP , Family , Friends, Colleagues, and Biz .

Mess ages 31 Options Selecting Opti ons fro m the text entr y box also enables you to select the following options: Send Prompts you to enter a phone number and se nd the message. Save If you are n ot ready to send a message, you may save it as a draft.
Messages 32 Settings Change the following settings in Mes sages>SMS> Setting : Message Centre Enter the numb er to call to retrieve voicemail messages. Mess ages 33 Multimedia Messa g es (MMS) Composing a new multimedia message T o compose a multimedia message, select Messages>New MMS. Three options appea r: Add text Select Te x t . T he tex t entry bo x is the s ame as the tex t entry box for a text-only message.
Messages 34 Add images 1. Select Image to add a picture or photograph to the messag e. A list of images in the My Pictures folder is displayed. 2. Select the pho t o you wish to add from th e album. The ph oto is automatically added to th e MMS messag e.

Messages 36 Additional multim edia message options When you select Messages>MMS , the following MMS options also app ear on the screen: Inbox Received messages are stored here. Whe n you have unread messages, it will show ne xt to your inbox. for exa mp le, if it sh ows 9-1 it means yo u have 9 messages an d 1 is unread.
Mess ages 37 Setting s se nding optio ns V alidity period Se t a number of days for the service provider to continue trying to send a message . This setting is useful if your contact’s phone is turned off. Read report Request a receip t from your contact when the message is received.
Messages 38 Info Message Ser vices Information services distr ibute content as te xt messages with content about weather , news, and financial mar ke t s. Manage information ser vices at Messages>Informat io n Messages . The phone co mes with an information message box alre ady set up.
Mess ages 39 V oicemail V oic email is provided by your service provider . V oicemail messages ar e sto red on the netwo rk server and not on your phone’ s SIM card. Y our service prov ider will give yo u a number to dial to hear your voicemail messages.
Fun and Game 40 Fun and Game The Fun an d Game section of the men u cont ains cr eative sound and image tool s, as well as a game. Alb um Selecting Albu m opens the photo album, alo ng with the same functions found in Camera>View Pi ctures . Fun and Game 42 Composer Composer is a midi music composition tool that enab les you to compose and edit tun es with one to four channels. Comp oser stores up to five tunes. Th e fa ctory default settin g for these tunes is empty , so you can cr eate completely new melodies.
Fun and Game 43 Below is a t able of the keys an d the corr esponding no tes and symbols. 4. Enter your melody . 5. Select Options>Play to hear your tune. 6. Select Options , and adjust Te m p o , Instrument , and Vo l u m e to your liking. 7. Save your work.
Set ting s Phone sett ings 44 Settings in y our phone In the settings section of the menu, you can edit settin gs for personal prefer ences, such as display or r ing style. Y ou can also se t useful features such as t ime and date or security features.
Phone sett ings 45 Y ou may also compose yo ur own ring to ne. For more informa tion, se e Composer on p age 42 Ring v olu me T o adjust ring volume, go to Settings>Sound and Alert>R i ng Volume. Press the Up a nd Down na vigation keys quickly to move between settin gs.
Set ting s Phone sett ings 46 3. Select the pic ture you would like t o set as w allpaper . There ar e two display option s: Fit to Scree n , and Put on Center . Choosing Fit to Screen means the picture fills the entire screen. Choosing Fit to Screen p laces the picture over the entire screen.
Phone sett ings 47 Menu display schemes Y ou can also choose between two dif feren t menu disp lay schemes. The Cryst alGa zer scheme displays round icon s in a spherical orbit, while the T ulip scheme displays icons in a grid. Set schemes in Settings>Handset>Scheme.
Set ting s Phone sett ings 48 Langua ge Set the language for th e main display and menu s, as well as for language inp ut in Settings>Handset>Language . When set to Automatic, the phone adjust s to the main lang uage of the regional ser vice provider .
Phone sett ings 49 Phone lock The phone l ock of fers an add itio n level of protection for your phone. The SIM ca rd lock preven t s unauth orized use of yo ur service pro vid er subscription . The phone lock prevent s others from u sing the phone , even if y our SIM card is re placed with another SIM ca rd.

Using the Camera 51 Using the Camer a and Mana ging Photos Y our phone has an easy-to- use, built-in dig it al camera. Af ter you t ake photos with it, you can send them to friends and family , set them as wallp aper , or even add a ph oto to your phoneb ook, so that the picture appea rs wh en someone ca lls you.
Using the Camera 52 Self-portrait Y ou can take a self-portrait by using t he small m irror o n the back of your phone . Hold the camera with one hand and use the other to press Captur e . Look at your reflection in the mirror to pos ition the came ra .

Using the Camera 56 Set to Caller ID . Associate a photo with a contact in your phonebook. When the cont act calls you, the contact’ s photo is displayed. 1. Select Options>Set to Caller ID . 2. A list of cont act s in your phoneboo k appears. Select the desired cont act.
Using the Camera 57 Adding ef fects to your photos The variety of ef fects of fered in your camera help s you to improve th e look of your photos or add creative touches. Bring out the best of a photo by changing the layout or editing photographi c elemen t s such as brightness and hu e.
Using the Camera 58 Tr a n s f o r m Face Off cont ains the types of ef fe cts you would expect to find at a carnival funhouse.. Rot ate Select the best layout for a photo with Rot ate. Rot ate photo position by 90 °, 180 °, or 270 ° clo ckwi se. Flip Reverses the image.
Using the Camera 59 Funny Theme superimposes de corative gr ap hics on photos. Filter applies a variety of artistic ef fect s to your photos. Frame Adds a frame to the ed ges of a photo. Greeting Card Adds text and gr aphics to turn phot os into greetin g card s.
Using the Camera 60 Smart Blur Ret ains the sharpne ss of the fore ground image while creating a blur rin g ef fect in the backgro und. Oil Paint Adds br ush-st roke effects to the pho to. Frosted Glass Adds a froste d gla ss ef fect to the borde rs of the photo.

WA P 62 WAP Wireless Application Protocol (W AP), enab les you to browse the web, much like you wo uld on a re gular computer . Unlike regular websites, though, sites de signed for W AP include on ly key conten t and ge nerally include fewer gr aphics.

PIM 69 T o enter information in other fields, y ou must select from preset options. In these fields, re d arrows ap pea r at the right of the field, which mea ns that these fields are selectable fields. Press the right soft key to select and view options.
PIM 70 Deleting appointment s The step s for deleting an appointment are similar to those for viewing an appo intment. 1. Select the day of the appointment fro m the calendar . 2. Press Select to view the day’ s appointment s or press Options to appo in tm en ts by day , week, or all.
PIM 71 1. Select New Entry then press Select to add a new note. (See T ext entry on p age 14.) 2. After ente ring the notes y ou wish to make, press Option s , select Save from the list then press Select . V iewing and editing notes Af ter creating a note, you can view o r modify it if you need to.
PIM 72 Deleting notes T o delete a note: 1. Select the note you want to delete then press Options . 2. Select Delete to delete the selected no te or Delete All to delete all notes. 3. Press Select then Ye s to delete the no te or notes. Sending notes Y ou can send notes to another per son’ s cell phone.
PIM 73 3. Use the number keys to set the time for the alarm then pr ess OK . Y ou can also select the hour and minute fields then press the up / down navigation keys to chang e the time. 4. Select Repeat Daily . Press Select to turn the setting on or off.
