9 Navigation Control The 4-way Navigation Control and the OK button allow you to access the various menus av ailable from the On Screen Display (OSD). You ca n configure a wide range of settings to ensure maximum resul ts from your images and videos.
10 Camera Memo ry Internal memory Your camera is equipped with 32MB of intern al memory. Users can store files up to 13.5MB. If there is no memory card in serted in the memo ry card slot, all images, videos and au dio clips recorded ar e automatically stored in the internal memory.

12 Charging the Battery by USB In other way charging th e battery , you can use the USB cable to conn ect the camera with PC or USB adapter . 1. Connect the camera with the USB cable as shown. 2. Connect the other end with th e USB adapter and plug it into a power outlet or with the U SB port of PC directly for charging.

18 Changing the LCD Monitor Display The type of information displayed on th e LCD monitor can be changed usin g the button. Press the button rep eatedly to change the LCD display fr om one type to an other.
19 Setting the Zoom Co ntrol Using a combination of 4 times optical zoom and 5 time s digita l zoom permits zoom pho tography at up to 20 times magnification. While the digital zoo m can be a useful feature, the more an image is enlarged (zoomed), the more pixelated (grainier) the image will appear.
20 Using Flash When taking pictures in difficult lighting condi tions, use the Flash/Right butt on to get correct exposur e. This function cannot be activated in recording videos or contin uous shooting. To activate Flash: • Press the Flash/Right button on your camera repeatedly until your desired flash mode is displayed on the LCD monitor.
21 Using the Function Menu The Function Menu is used to adjust capture settings in Photo Mode. It contains My Mode, Phot o Size, Quality, EV Compensation, White Balance, ISO, Meteri ng, and Color Mode. Press the FN button of your camera to launch the Function Menu.
22 Quality The Quality sets the quality (compression) at which the imag e is captured. The quality determines the amount of compression applied to your images. Fine qu ality would give you the best images with sharper details a nd less compression.
23 White Balance This sets the white balance for a variety of lighting conditions and permits images to be captured that appr oach the conditions that are seen b y the human eye. • As you move through the selection, you can see the preview on the LCD monitor synchronously.
24 Meteri ng This sets the metering method for calcula ting the exposure. Icon Item Descrip tion Multi The entire area of the screen is measur ed, and the exposure is calculated. Center Averages the light met ered from the en tire frame, bu t gives greater weight to the subject matter at the center.
25 Using the Recor d Menu If you are in Photo Mode, you can access the Re cord menu simply by pressing the MENU button on your camera. When the menu is displayed, use the 4-way navigation contr ol and the OK button to move thro ugh menu selections and apply your desired se ttings.
26 Backlight This feature is used to capture the image of a backlight object by changing the metering. Kids This feature is used to capture still ima ges of moving kids. Night Scene This feature is used to capture images with night scenery backgr ound.
27 Blink Detection This feature detects if the subject blinked an eye wh en the image is captured and gives the user an option whether to save it or not. Pre-composition This feature captures an image tempora rily as a reference. Full press shutter after referring the subject to the reference point.
28 Using Intelligent Scene This feature is most useful for novice users t o ca pture great images even without basic knowledge of photography. Simply frame the shot with the help of I ntelligent S.
29 Using Party Mode Let the Party mode on! It can be difficult to get everyone on a party. While you have the whole gang together, take a grou p or family portrait. Party mode fe atures on Red-eye reduction flash and face tracking. You’ll miss fewer shots, and ha ve more time to focus on enjoying the party.
30 Using Auction Mode It ’ s h a r d a n d w a s t e s a l ot o f t i m e t o c o m b i n e s e v e ra l imag es by software. Select Auction mode a nd choose a pattern, then take a few shots from differe nt an gle. The camera composes a combined imag e in lower resolution suited to on line posting.

33 Using Fisheye Lens Mode For shooting fisheye photos with mo re creative and fun. Original Fisheye Lens Using Photo Stitch Mode Use this feature to create a panoramic photo from m ultiple shots. You can combine up to 2 or 3 shots int o one single image quickly and easily.
34 3. Once the icon overlaps the yellow block, you can get another shot without pressing the shutter b utton. 4. After takin g the second shot, the yellow block moves to the en d of the guidance bar, and the O K button appea rs as well. You can press the OK button to stitch the first two shots, or the Menu button to restart shootin g.
35 Using Aperture Priority Mode This mode is designed for control the aperture v alue by user and let camer a decide th e shatter speed. The main impa ct that aperture h ad on images was with regards t o Depth of Fie ld. (DOF) • Choose lager aperture, only one subject in focus but the background nice and blurred.
36 Usin g Voices Recordin g 1. From the Scene menu, select Voice REC . T he Voice Recording screen layout is displayed on the LCD monitor. 2. Press the Shutter button to start recor ding.
37 Setting the AEB AEB stands fo r Automatic Exposure Bracketin g. It permits 3 consecutive image s in the order of standard exposure, under exposure and overexposure compensation. T o set AEB 1. From the Recor d menu, select AEB . 2. Use the or keys to go t hrough the select ion.
38 Sett ing Sharp ness This function allows you to enhance or softe n finer details of your images. To set Sh arpness 1. From the Recor d menu, select Sharpness . 2. Use the or keys to go thr ough the selection. 3. Press the OK button to save and apply changes.
39 Setting Contrast This function allows you to adjust the contr ast of your images. To set Contrast 1. From the Record menu, sele ct Contrast . 2.
40 Setting the Date Stamp The date of recording can be printed directly on the still images. This function must be activated before the image is captured. Once date an d time are stamped o n an image, they can no longer be edited or deleted. Limitation s of Date S tamp func tions are as fol lows: • Available for still images only.
41 Recording Videos You can record videos with the camera, the available recording t ime depends on the capacit y of the memory card. Videos can be recorded until the maximum mem ory capacity has been reached. However the length of a single video may be limited (the limitation de pends on the camera model).
42 Inter net Mode The Internet Mod e allows you to recor d videos with predefin ed video settings fo r easy upload to the Internet we bsite. Therefore when you recor d using the Internet Mode, the following standards are followed: • R ecorde d videos are set to In ternet standard reso lution of 640 X 480.
43 Playback You can playback the still images, video and audio clips on the LCD monitor. Viewing in Single Navigation The Single navigation mode displays the image one by one on the LCD monitor. To view images/videos/audio clips, follow t he steps below.
44 Thumbnail icons: When you view th e thumbnails, some images may con ta in icons. These icons indicate the type of file or recording. Icon Type Description Voice Record Indicates a voice recording file. File Erro r Ind icates an error fi le. Zooming images The zoom view function works with still imag es only.

46 Deleting an Image/V ideo/Audio There are two way s to delete an image/video/audio: • Using the Delete butto n. • Using Playback Menu Delete sett ing s. See "Delete" on page 47. Using the Delete Button Use the Fn/Delete button on your camer a to delete an image/video /audio clip.
47 Delete The Delete function allows to remove unwanted f iles i n the internal memory or on the memory card. Protected files cannot be erased, to delete, unpr otect the file first. See "Protect" on page 49. To delete an image/video/audio clip: 1.
48 7. Press the OK button to delete marked files. T o delete all files: 1. Select All in the Delete submenu. A confirmation message appears. 2. Select Yes . 3. Press the OK button to delete all files. Slide Show The slide show fu nction enables you to playbac k your still images automatically in order one image at a time.
49 Protect Set the data to read-only to prevent im ages from being erased by mistake. A protected file has a lock icon when viewed on Playback mode. To protect files: 1. From the Playback menu, select Protect . 2. The Protect submenu is displayed on the LC D monitor.
50 Red-eye Correction The Red-eye Cor rection function is used to reduce red eye in captured images. This function is only available for st ill images. Red-eye correction can be a pplied to an image several times, but the quality may gradually deteriorate.
51 Color Mod e The Color Mode function lets you adjust edi t still images to ap ply different colors or tones for a more a rtistic effect. Edited images in this function are saved as a new file. To activate Color Mode: 1. Set the camera to P layback mode .
52 Trim The Trim function allows you to trim an imag e to another image siz e. This function is only available for still images. To trim an image: 1. Set the camera to Playback mode . 2. Use the or keys to scroll and select an image to trim. 3. Press the MENU button to launch the Playback menu.
53 Resize Resizes a previously saved image and only resizing to a smaller size is available. T o resize an image: 1. Set the camera to Playback mode . 2. Use the or keys to scroll and select an image to resize. 3. Press the MENU button to launch the Playback menu.
54 DPOF DPOF is the abbreviation for Digital Print Order Format, whic h allows you to embed printing informatio n on your memory card. You can s elect the images to be printed and how many prints to make with the DPOF menu in the camera an d inse rt the memory car d to th e card compatible pri nter.
55 Using the Setup Menu You can access the Setup menu whether you a re in Record or Playback mode. The Setup menu allows to configure general camera settings. T o go to Setup M enu: 1. Press Menu button to launch the Record/Playback Menu. 2. Use the or keys to sw itch the menu tab to Setup menu.
56 Setti ng LCD Save Enable the LCD S ave function to au tomatically decrease the LCD brightness to conserve battery power. When the camera is idle for 20 seconds, the LCD darken s. Press any button to resume to normal brightness. • The camera is idle when no butto ns are pressed.
57 Setting TV Out Use the TV Out funct ion to adjust vi deo ou tput signal to accommodate diff erent regional settings. If TV out is not set correctly, the image may not display properly on TV. Available settings are: • NTSC. Applicable in Japan, USA, Canada, Taiwan and others.
58 Making Connections You can connect your camera to: TV, computer, or a printer. Connecting the Camera to a TV You can p lay back your images on a TV screen. Before connecting to an y video devices, make sure to select NTSC/PAL to match the broadcast standard of the video equipment you are going to connect to the camera.
