Main operations 8 3.4 Connecting optional headphones The HP -1 features two headphone sock ets. This allows two persons to list en through headphones simulta- neously , making it v ery useful for lessons and when performing piano pieces for four hands.

Convenient functions 12 4.1 About the Function mode The functions described below need to be set in “Function mode” . After selecting that mode, you can use the HP -1’ s keys (on the k eyboard) to mak e the desired settings.

Middle A (“ A4”) is generally used for adjusting the tuning of the instr uments.
Convenient functions 14 4.4 Changing the temperament Y ou can play classical styles such as Bar oque using historic temperaments (tuning methods). T oday , c ompositions are generally creat ed with equal temperament in mind and are pla yed using equal temperament.

This special tuning method for pianos is called “Stretch T uning.
Convenient functions 16 4.7 Changing the damper pedal’ s resonance On an acoustic piano , depressing the damper pedal mak es the notes y ou play r esonate with other strings, adding rich reverberations and fatness to the sound. The damper pedal on the HP -1 recr eates this resonanc e (Sympathetic R eso- nance) when depressed.
