4 GENERAL SAFETY RULES SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Hold power tools by insula ted grip ping sur faces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator .

11 OPERA TION TO CHARGE A fully dischar ged battery pack with a temperature between 32°F (0°C) and 150°F (65°C) will char ge in about an hour . Charge the 24 V olt lithium-ion battery pack only with the char ger provided. � Connect the char ger to a power supply .

15 18 . 0v OPERA TION WARNING: Battery tools ar e always in operating condition. Therefor e, the switch should always be locked when not in use or carrying at your side. ST AR TING/STOPPING THE SAW See Figure 7. T o turn the saw ON , depress the trigger lock button and pull the switch trigger .
16 SPLINTER-FREE CUTTING See Figure 9. The anti-splintering insert is especially useful when cutting plywood. It should only be used when making straight cuts or circle cuts. It is not for bevel cutting or plunge cutting. NOTE: The non-orbital setting also helps r educe splintering when cutting plywood.
17 OPERA TION T o remove blades: Remove the battery pack. Remove the chip shield and the anti-splintering insert if needed. Lift the blade clamp until it stops. � Holding the blade clamp up, remove the saw blade. Reinstall the battery pack.
18 OPERA TION NOTE: Do not use the anti-splintering insert when mak- ing bevel cuts, scr oll cuts, plunge cuts, and when cutting metal. SCROLL CUTTING See Figure 14. Scroll cuts can be made with the jig saw by guiding the direction of the cut with applied pressur e on the handle as shown.
19 OPERA TION PLUNGE CUTTING See Figures 17 - 18. WARNING: T o avoid loss of contro l, broken blade s, or damag e to the material being cut, always use extr eme caution when making plunge cuts. W e do not recommend plunge cutting on materials other than wood.
20 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing use only identical RIDGID replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazar d or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust.
