13 OPERA TION SELECTING HAMMER MODE OR DRILLING MODE See Figure 8. T o adjust for type of drilling, slide the selector on top of the motor housing to hammer mode or drilling mode. The ham- mer mode symbol is on the right and the drill bit symbol is on the left.
14 OPERA TION WARNING: Before connecting the drill to a power supply sour ce, always check to be sur e it is not in lock-on position (depress and release the switch trigger). Failure to ensure that it is not locked-on could result in accidental starting of the drill resulting in possible serious injury .
15 OPERA TION MET AL DRILLING� For maximum performance, use high speed steel bits for metal or steel drilling. Select normal drilling mode. Begin drilling at a very low speed to prevent the bit from slipping off the starting point.� Maintain a speed and pressure which allows cutting without overheating the bit.
16 MAINTENANCE CHUCK REMOV AL See Figures 11 - 13. The chuck may be removed and r eplaced with a new one. Unplug the drill. Open chuck jaws using the provided chuck key . Insert a 5/16 inch or lar ger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely .
