Camer a User Guide The serial number of this product is given on the bottom face of the camera. Basic Operations If you are using the camera f or the first time, read this section. This section provides a basic overview of how to turn on the camera, take pictures and play back pictures.

Charging the Rechar geable Battery (DB-65) DB-65 Li-ion batteries must be charged befor e use. 1 Insert the battery into the battery charger , making sure that the r and s markings on the battery match those on the battery charger .
27 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. Loading the Battery and SD Memory Card After recharging the r echargeable battery, load the battery and the SD memory card. Be sure the camera is off before r emoving the battery or the SD memory card.
28 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. Removing the Rechargeable Battery T urn the battery/card cover knob toward the M mark to open the cover . Release the hook that locks the rechargeable battery . The battery is ejec ted.

31 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. Basic Shooting Now you are r eady . Shooting in Auto Shooting Mode (F ocus and Shoot) T urn the mode dial to 5 to shoot with auto shooting mode. The shutter release button w orks in two steps.
32 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. 4 T o take a pic ture with the subject in the foreground in focus against a background, half-pr ess the shutter release button to focus on the subject, and then compose your shot. Shooting range Subject to be focused 5 Gently press the shutter r elease button all the way .

38 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. Playing Back Images V iewing Y our Images T o select playback mode, press the 6 (Playback) button. When the camera is off, pressing and holding the 6 (Playback) button longer than 1 second turns the camera on in playback mode.
39 If you are using the camer a for the first time, read this section. 81 Fr ames T o display pictures 81 at a time, press 9 in the 20-frame view . Press the DISP . button to change between the thumbnail list and page list. In the page list, press the !"#$ buttons to select the page.

Each movie you shoot is recorded as an A VI file. Press the shutt er release button to start recording .

If memory is insufficient, a warning will be displayed and copying will be interrupted. An y custom help images copied to that point will remain in internal memory.

68 Shooting Menu 6 Auto Brack et Choose the type of bracketing per formed. Auto Brack et If [On] is selected, the camera will take three photos each time the shutter r elease button is pressed: one underexposed by 0.5 EV, a sec ond at current exposure settings, and a third ov erexposed by 0.
69 Shooting Menu 6 Exposure Compensation Use exposure compensation to vary exposure from the value selected by the camera. Choose from values between –2 and +2; negative values produce darker pictures, positiv e values brighter pictures.
70 Shooting Menu 6 White Balance Adjust the white balance so that a white subject will appear white . At purchase, the white balanc e mode is set to [Auto]. Change the setting in situations where the white balance is difficult to adjust eff ectively , such as when shooting an object of a single color or when shooting under multiple light sources.
71 Shooting Menu 6 Manual 1 Measure white balance. • Af ter selecting [Manual] in the white balance menu and placing a blank piece of paper or other white object under the lighting you wish to measure, aim the camera at the object and press the DISP .

76 Playback Menu 7 • The size of the image after cropping depends on the size of the original and the size of the crop (the cr op displayed when you select [ T rim] is the second largest; to select the largest crop , press 9 ).
77 Playback Menu 7 Contr ast Correction Create copies that hav e been processed to adjust brightness and contrast. Highlight [Contrast Corr ection] in the playback menu and press $ to displa y a level slider and histogram. Press ! t o make the photo brighter , or " to make it darker .
78 Playback Menu 7 Skew Correction Create copies that hav e been processed to reduc e the effects of perspective on rectangular objects, such as message boards or business cards. Caution --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Y ou can use skew correction for still images shot with this camera.
79 Playback Menu 7 Protect [Prot ect] allows you to protect files from being accidentally deleted. If [1 File] is selected, you can pr otect or unprotect the file selected by pressing the #$ buttons. If [Select All] or [Cancel All] is selected, you can protect or unprotect all files.

93 Setup Menu 8 SD WORM No password is requir ed when SD WORM cards ( G P .24) are used. If no memory card is inser ted or another type of card is used, you will be prompted to enter a passw ord when the camera is turned on. Entering an incorrect password will cause the camera to turn off .

106 Bluetooth® 11 Entering a Passw ord If an authentication key, or passw ord, is required f or connection to a Bluetooth® device, a message will be display ed. Enter a password as described below . 1 Press MENU/OK. • An on-screen keyboard will be displayed.
107 Bluetooth® 11 T ransferring Images During Pla yback (Bluetooth®) Images can be copied to Bluetooth® devices using the [F ile Send] option in the playback menu ( G P .72). 1 S elect [File Send]. • S elect [File Send].
