38 Usin g the Z oom Fun ction If you use t he Z ( Wide angle)/ z (T elephoto) butto n, you can alter the size of t he subject in y our pho to without having to change your distance f rom it. By pres sing the Z button, the field in the LCD monitor and the viewf inder becomes wider .
39 Quick G uide Sho oting Close- Ups ( Macro-Mode ) Using the N (Macro) button allows you t o take a tight close- up (Mac ro Photo). It is good for shooting s mall subjects because you can get up to one centimeter (1/2 inch) away . 1. W ith the c ame ra rea d y t o shoot , press t he N bu tton.
40 Using the Flash Pre ss the F button to s witch bet ween flash modes. By default, your camera is set to Fl ash Of f. From the front edge of the lens, flashlight reaches about 0.2 to 5. 0 m (W ) or about 0. 15 to 2.9 m (T) when IS O sensitiv ity is set to AUT O.

Adjust the expos ure using the ex posure compensat ion (P .78) or ma nual exposure func tion (P .87). For details, see the documentation that came w ith the external flash.

A greater value m eans higher sensitivity . High sensitivity is suit able for shooting an object in a dark plac e or moving f ast and suppresses blurring.
