Guide to the Printer 9 1 Guides The guides of the output tray minimize curl ed printed output. Use these guides when you p rint on A3 L size paper, 11" × 17" L size paper, or thin paper. ❖ To print onto A3 L and 11" × 17" L size paper Raise the end fence.

11 2. Installing Options R CAUTION: See P.157 “Options” to confirm what kind of options are available. • Before insta lling options, the machine sh ould be turned o ff and unplugged for at least thirty minutes. Components inside the machine become very hot, and can cause a burn injury if touched.

Installing the Memory Unit 15 2 D Remove the two screws locking the printer board. You need the screws to lock the printer board a fterwards. E Hold the ha ndle, and carefully pull out the pr inter board. F Confirm that the notch on the memory unit is on th e right as shown in the illustration.
Installing Options 16 2 Installing the Paper Bank PS430 R CAUTION: A Confirm that the printer is turned off, and p ull the plug out of the wall outlet. B Remove the tape that holds the paper ba nk, and remove t he pack- ing material. • Before installing options, the ma- chine should be turned off and unplugged for at lea st thirty m in- utes.

Installing Options 18 2 H Lock the p aper bank and the printer with the screw. I Replace the second paper tray (Tray 2) into the printer. J Open the lower vertical paper fee d cove r on the righ t si de of the paper bank ( A ). Hang the lock plate hook i n the hole insi de ( B ), and then fasten the plate with the kno b screw us ing your finger s.
19 3. Configuring the Printer for the Network This section describes how to configure your printer for us e as a network printer. The actual pr ocedures may differ depending on your network environment. Use the appropriate procedu res for your network environment.

Configuring the Printer for the Network 32 3 Instal ling IP Peer-t o-Peer The TCP/IP protocol is req uired for IP Peer-to-Peer p rinting. Confirm th at the TCP/IP protocol is installed, if not, install it before starting the following proce- dure. Follow these steps to install IP Peer -to-Peer.

Note ❒ In the following instructions, some field or dialog box names might vary de- pending on the NT service pac k in use. The Network Interface Board IP a ddress is now displayed an d currently se- lected on the list of ports. M If the printer is to be shared, click the [ Sharing ] tab, select Shared and type the Share name.

NetWare Configuration 37 3 F Confirm that the M AC address and IPX address are correct, and click [ Fin- ish ] . G Type the print ser ver name into the [ Devic e Name ] box, and c lick [ Next > ] . The factory defaul t is RDP_ followed by the 6 digit serial number.

NetWare Configuration 43 3 B Type into the [ Tree: ] box the name of the NDS tree in which the print server is created, and type the context into the [ Context: ] box. Clicking [ Browse ] , you can select a NDS tree and a NDS context among thos e lis te d in th e [ Browse ] dialog boxes.

NetWare Configuration 47 3 H Remove the check marks from the [ Form Fee d ] and the [ Enable Banner ] check boxes. Note ❒ You should not check thes e boxes, because the y should be specified u sing the printer driver. If they are c hecked, the printer might n ot print co rrectly.
