The Router function lets you securel y share one high-speed Internet con- nection among your entire netw ork, while the 4-port full duplex 10/100 Switch jump-starts your wired-Ethernet network.

The LAN ports transmit data at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, and the broadband por t, or Internet por t, transmits data at 10/100 Mbps.

A utomatic Conf iguration - DHCP By default, the Router’ s Conf iguration T ype is set to Automatic Conf iguration - DHCP , as sho wn in Figure 7-4, and it should be k ept onl y if your ISP supports DHCP or you are connecting through a dynamic IP address.
