7 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert INST ALLA TION POLICY FOR SOLID FUEL BURNING & F ACT OR Y BUIL T FIREPLACES The Regency ® E21 may be installed and vented into any solid fuel fi replace that has been installed in accordance with the National, Provincial and local building codes and is constructed of non- combustible materials.
8 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert CLEARANCES T O COMBUSTIBLES INST ALLA TION The minimum clearance from the side of the appliance to a combustible side wall is 9 inches (229mm). The minimum clearance from the top of the louver to a combustible mantel is 14 inches (356mm).

10 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert WIRING DIAGRAMS INST ALLA TION CAUTION: Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous operation.
11 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert Note: Do not operate unit if fl ue connector is not fastened in original position. FLUE CONNECT OR INST ALLA TION 1) Remove the screw holding the fl ue connector plate to the appliance.
12 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert GAS PIPE PRESSURE TESTING The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shut-off valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psig.
13 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert TEST FOR FLUE SPILLAGE A " spillage" test must be made before the installed unit is left with the customer . Follow the procedure below: 1) Close all external doors and windows in the house. 2) Light the unit and set controls to maximum.
14 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert The front bottom of Log D)02-70 sits snugly between Logs C) 02-68 and Log B)02-67. 7) Place the embers on the front lip of the burner as shown below . 8) Place pieces of rockwool on the front lip of the burner as shown below .

16 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert BA Y LOUVERS 1) Install top louver by sliding the two bracket clips into the brackets located on top of the bay door . See below. The fi tted louver leaves a small gap between faceplate bottom and louver top. Diagram 1 NOTE: The top and bottom trim pieces are different.

18 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert 17) V erify that if the conversion is from NG to LPG, the screw must be re-assembled with the red o-ring visible (Fig. 5). 18) Re-assemble the black protection cap (Fig. 6). W ARNING! Also check that the pilot and main burner injectors are appropriate for the gas type.
19 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert Installer Notice: These instructions must be left with the appliance. 39) Check for gas leaks. 40) Check inlet and outlet pressures. 41) Check operation of fl ame control. 42) Check for proper fl ame appearance and glow on logs.
20 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert FULL SCREEN DOORS 1) Hold the full screen door up against the unit in order to make the following wire connections. Pull the ON/OFF connector wires thru the box and connect them to the switch. Connect the fan switch wires with the wire connectors from the fan speed control.
21 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert 6) Place Bottom Frame near hinge. Flip hinge over Bottom Frame and secure with 3 screws each. Bottom Frame Hinge Location 5) Install Spring Hinges to the Left and Right Side of the bottom of the fi rebox using 2 screws per hinge.
22 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert Thermostat Wire T able CAUTION Do not wire millivolt wall thermostat wires to 120V wire. W ALL SWITCH 1) Run the wire through the right or left side inlet opening.
23 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert FINAL CHECK Before leaving this unit with the customer , the installer must ensure that the appliance is fi ring correctly . This includes: 1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correct fi ring rate (rate noted on label) at 15 minutes.

25 Regency ® E21-2 Gas Fireplace Insert MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 1) Always turn the gas valve to off before cleaning. For relighting, refer to lighting instructions. Keep the burner and control compartment clean by brushing and vacuuming at least once a year .
