2 FEA TURES Y our RCA SCT -530 High-Speed Dubbing Stereo Cassette Deck combines two cassette decks for pr ofessional-quality dubbing and the convenience of extended play . Its special features include: Dolby B Noise Reduction System — reduces tape hiss and background noise for the best possible audio recor ding.

5 CONNECTING THE RECORDING AND PLA YBACK CABLES 1. Using one of the supplied audio cables, connect the cassette deck’ s left and right LINE OUTPUT jacks to the receiver/amplifier’ s left and right tape input jacks. 2. Using the other audio cable, connect the cassette deck’ s LINE INPUT jacks to the receiver/amplifier’ s tape output jacks.
6 BASIC OPERA TION LO ADING AND PLA YING A CASSETTE TAPE Loading a Cassette T ape 1. Use your finger or a pencil to turn the cassette’ s hub and take up any tape slack. Note: Do not touch the tape. Fingerprints attract dust and dirt. 2. Pr ess the appr opriate STOP/EJECT button (Deck l or Deck 2) to open the cassette compartment door .
7 SPECIAL FEA TURES FAST -FORWARD/REWIND T o rapidly advance or rewind the tape, press F AST -F or REWIND . T o stop the tape, press STOP/EJECT . When the tape reaches the end, the cassette deck automatically stops. PAUSE T o temporarily stop playback or recording, pr ess P AUSE.
8 SPECIAL FEA TURES RECORDING AND DUBBING Y ou can record fr om any component connected to the receiver/amplifier or dub (copy) cassette tapes. Notes: • T ape quality greatly af fects the quality of the recor ding. Y our cassette deck can play T ype I and T ype II tape.
9 RESTORING TAPE TENSION AND SOUND QUALITY After you play a cassette tape several times, the tape might become tightly wound on the reels. This can cause playback sound quality to deteriorate. T o restore the sound quality , fast-forward the tape from the beginning to the end of one side, then completely rewind it.

11 Cause • The power cor d is unplugged. • The component to which the power cord is attached is turned of f. • The deck is not stopped. • Power was turned of f while the tape was moving. • The cassette is not pr operly loaded. • The tape is at the end of that side.
12 TROUBLE SHOO TING Symptom High-frequency sounds ar e emphasized. The sounds fr om pr evious recor dings are still on the tape with new recor dings. The sound is distorted. There is too much noise. Cause • A tape recor ded with Dolby NR is being played back with DOLBY NR set to OUT .
