3 I NTRODUCTION Y our GE 2-9291 12 Number Memory FM/AM Cloc k Radio T elephone is designed to give you flexibility in use and high quality performance. T o get the most from your new clock radio telephone, we suggest that you take a few minutes right now to read through this instruction manual.
4 G ETTING S T ARTED Make sure your package contains the following items: Base Handset B EFORE Y OU B EGIN M ODULAR J ACK R EQUIREMENTS Y ou need an RJ1 1(CA1 1A) type modular jac k, whic h is the most common type of phone jack and might look like the one pictured here.
5 P OWERING U P “N O W ORRY ” B A TTERY B ACKUP This clock radio is equipped with a memory holding system that can be powered with a customer -installed 9-volt alkaline battery (not in- cluded).
6 0 OPER # FLAS REDIAL STORE MEM DIAL HI LO OFF PULSE TONE 1 3 I NST ALLA TION 1 . Plug the telephone cord into the modular wall jac k. 2. Connect the handset to the base unit. 3 . S et the PULSE/T ONE switc h (located on the handset) to TONE if you have touc h-tone service, or to PULSE if you have rotary dial service.
7 T ELEPHONE O PERA TION S ETTING R INGER V OLUME The ringer volume switch is located on the handset. Set it to HI, LO, or OFF . Remember that the RINGER switch must be set to HI or LO or the phone will not ring for incoming calls.

9 QUICK DIAL A 2 ABC 3 DEF 6 MNO 5 JKL 4 GHI 9 WXYZ 8 TUV 7 PQRS 0 OPER # FLASH STORE MEM DIAL REDIAL BC 1 Store as many as 12 numbers in memory for easy dialing. Three can be stored in the Emergency Quick Dial locations, and nine additional numbers can be stored in the numbered keys (1-9).
10 4. Press REDIAL to add a pause, and then dial the number . 5. Press the STORE button. 6. Press an EMERGENCY QUICK DIAL button, or press MEM DIAL followed by a memory location (1-9 on the keypad). C HANGING A S TORED N UMBER Change a stored number by replacing it with a different number .
11 1. Slide function selector to ON. 2. Slide the AM/FM BAND switc h (located on the right side of the unit) to the desired broadcast band. 3. T urn TUNING knob to select a station. 4. Adjust the VOLUME control to your preferred listening level. 5. T o turn the radio of f, slide the function selector to OFF .
12 Y our digital cloc k timer operates on a 24-hour cycle. The AM indicator on the left of the display will light up to let you know if the display is reading AM or PM time. 1. Press the HOUR button to get the correct AM or PM hour . 2. Press the MIN button to get to the exact minute time.
13 W AKE TO MUSIC 1. Select an AM or FM station 2. Set the wake time. 3. Set function selector to MUSIC position. (The W AKE indicator in the display will light.) The radio will turn on at the wake time you set and will turn itself off af ter approximately 2 hour s.
14 S LEEP TO MUSIC Y ou can drift of f to sleep to music knowing that the radio will turn itself of f automatically . Simply: 1. Set the function selector to the OFF position. 2. Press and hold the SLEEP button. The time display will exhibit 0:59. The radio will turn on automati- cally .
15 S LEEP TO MUSIC AND W AKE TO MUSIC OR ALARM Y ou can set your cloc k radio to lull you to sleep, turn itself off, then awaken you at a preset time - all automatically . 1. Set the wake time. 2. Follow the steps under W AKE T O MUSIC or W AKE T O ALARM.
16 M INUTES AND S ECONDS T IME D ISPLA Y For a display of time in minutes and seconds: 1. Press and hold the W AKE but ton. 2. While holding down W AKE button, momentarily press the SLEEP button. The hour digits will display minutes; the minute digits will display seconds and start to increment.
17 T ROUBLESHOOTING T IPS T ELEPHONE Problem Solution No dial tone. • Check hook switch to make W on't dial out sure it pops up. • Make sure TONE/PULSE is set to correct position. • Unplug the phone, wait 30 seconds, and plug the phone back in.
18 G ENERAL P RODUCT C ARE T o keep your phone working and looking good, follow these guidelines: • A void put ting it near heating appliances and devices that generate electrical noise (for example, motors or fluorescent lamps). • DO NOT expose to direct sunlight or moisture.
