1 Intr oduction This pool heat pump is an electromec hanical machine that incorporates a pressurized refrigerant gas in a sealed sys tem. ONL Y trained and qualified service personnel are authorized to install or service this eq uipment.
2 Situate the pool heat pump caref ully to minimize installati on costs while providing maximum efficiency of operation, and to allow adequate service access, as follows: • For unrestricted air intake and service access, pos ition each side of the un it at least 1 ft from walls, pipes and other obstructions.
3 III. W ater Connections The heat pump inlet and outlet connection s are NOT interchangeable. They must be connected as inst ructed below . 1. Connect the heat pump in the return water line between the filter and the pool. See page 10, Plumbing Diag rams.
4 NOTE: The heat pump will not run whe n the Remote position is selected and there is no remote co ntrol system attached. Defrost Switch : Prevents heat pump operation if am bient air temperature falls below a predetermined safe minimum (appr oximately 42-48° F , based on hum idity).
5 NOTE: The heat pump wi ll be OFF when the Remote position is selected on th e P ool/Sp a selector switch and there is no remote con trol system att ached. 4. Allow the heat pump to operate for a few minutes to stabilize operating pressure s and to allow various component temperatures to normalize.

Fr eeze Protection If the heat pump is installed in a location subjec t to freezing conditions, it is important to protect the water circuit from fr eezing, just as should be done for the pump and filter . System Drain-Down 1. T urn the heat pump circuit break er or disconnect switch to OFF .
7 C. Unplug Condensation Drain Holes - The heat pump extracts humidity from the air as it passes through the coil, similar to the way a cold drink outside “sweats” on a hot day .
8 B. UNIT IS NOT RUNNING • Is the control panel Power lamp ON? If not, the cir cuit brea ker may be shut OFF or tripped. Reset the breaker by switching it OFF , then back ON. V erify that the br eaker is set and operating pr operly befor e calling for service.
9 Plumbing Diagrams For systems with p umps of less than 2 HP (under 80 gpm), no external bypass is required. Connections ar e 2-inch unio ns. Plumb the h eat pump after the filter and before any chlorinators.
