31 1. GENERAL SAFETY RULES Any tr aces of coff ee are due to testing of the machine The pack ing elements (plastic bags, e xpanded polys tyren e, nails , cardbo ard, etc .) mus t not be left within the reach of children, as they are potential sources of danger .

33 5. TRANSPORT 5.1. Pac kaging The machine must alw a ys be transpor ted in the correct position f ollowing the instructions on the cardboard bo x. Do not tur n ov er the machine or la y it down on its side. The bo x also contains separate accessories and technical documentation which must be sa ved f or fur ther consultation.
34 7. ST ARTING UP 7.1. Filling (Fig. 2) Fil l the wat er tan k bef or e usin g the mac hine and when it is necessar y (alwa ys s witch off the machine) Open the lid (9) and pour about 2 litres of water into the tank (use dr inking water , softened if pos- sible).
35 8. 2. Coff ee preparation Detach the por tafilter (13) from its slot by turning it in a clockwise direction and pulling in a downw ard motion. Using the measurement scoop (17) supplied, fill the filter with either one or two measurements of coff ee according to the inser ted filter (14/15).
36 9. MAINTENANCE All maintenance operations must be carried out with the machine off and cold and with the pow er plug disconnected. Use a damp cloth or sponge f or cleaning. Do not use any metallic or abrasive mater ials for cleaning (such as scourers, metal brushes, needles or detergents).
