2 1. Press down on the tabs ab ove the battery compartment cover and pull the cover down to remove it. 2. Place the batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked i nside. 3. Replace the cover . When the sound becomes weak or distorte d or the cassette recorder stops operating prop- erly, replace the batteries.
3 USING THE RADIO 1. Set FUNCTION to RADIO to turn on the radio. 2. Set BAND to the desired setting ( AM , FM , or FM STEREO ). 3. Adjust VO LUME as desired. 4. Rotate TUNING to select a radio station. 5. When f inished, set FUNCTION to TA P E to turn off the radio.
4 3. Load the cassette with its o pen edge fac- ing up, its full reel to the right, and the side you want to play facing out. 4. Gently close th e compartment door . PLAYING A CASSETTE T APE 1. Set FUNCTION to TA P E . 2. Load a cassette tape. 3. Press PLA Y .
5 Erasing T apes To record over a cassette tape, simply record as usual. The cassette deck reco rds over the previous recording. You can quickly era se both sides of a cassette tape using a RadioShack bul k tape eraser. Note : If you use metal or hig h-bias type tape, the recorded sound migh t not be er ased prop - erly.
