5 IN STALLATI ON SELECTI NG A LOCATION You can place the ET-926’s base on a desk top or table, or m ount i t on a wal l. Select a location that is: • near an A C outlet • near a t ele phone lin .

8 Mou nting the Base Dir ectly on t he W all For this mounting method, you need two flat-head wo od screws (not sup- plied) with heads that fit into the key- hole slots on the bottom of t h e base. 1. D rill two h oles 3 5 / 16 inches apart. Then thread a s crew into each hole, letting the heads extend ab out 3 / 16 i n c h f r o m t h e wall.
9 5. Insert the supplie d AC adapter ’s barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack on the back of the b ase. 6. Route the a dapter ’s cord t hrough the narrow groove on t he bottom of the bracket. AC ADAPTOR DC IN 9V PULSE-TONE TEL LINE 7. Align the keyhol e slots wi th the mounting screws and s lide the base downw ard to secure it.
10 CONNECTING AND CHARGING T HE BATTERY PACK The ET-926 com es with a recharge- able nickel-cadmiu m battery pack in the handset. Before using your phone, you mus t conn ect the battery pac k, then charge it f or about 14 hours. 1. Slide the cover in the direction of the a rr ow to re m ov e it.
11 • When you first use the phone after charging or r e c h arging the battery pack, the pho ne might not work and y ou might hear an error to ne. If this h appens, return t he hands et to the base for a few seconds.
12 SETTI NG TH E RINGER T O NE/V OL UME You can select one of ei ght diff erent ringer tone/volum e settings — fo ur tones, with high/low v olume for ea ch — while the phone is not in use. To hear and change the ri n ger volume setting, press Vo l u m e s o r t.
13 OPE R AT ION MAKING AN D RECEIVING CALLS To make a call, lift the hands et and press Ta l k . To answer a call, simply lift the handset from the base (or, if the handset is a way from the base, press any key.) The Talk/Batt Low indicator on the handset and the In Use/Charge indicator on the base light.
14 USING FLASH Flash performs the electronic equiv a- lent of a switchho ok operat ion for sp e- cial services, s u ch as Call Waiting. For examp le, if y ou h av e Cal l Wa iting, press Fl ash to answer an incoming call wit hout disconnect ing t he current call.
15 Notes: • M a ke sure you press Ta l k t wi ce to stop the ha ndset from beepi ng. If you press Ta l k only once, you get a dial tone. • I f y ou receive a call while the page is sounding, the hands et st o ps beeping and starts ringing.
16 5. For each stored number , write the person’s or compan y’s name next to the appropriate location numb er on the supp lied MEM ORY direc- tory sticker . (Use a pencil in case you need to change the n umb er later .) Then at tach the sticker to the ph one.
17 Dial the service’s main number first. Then, at the appropriate plac e in t he ca l l , pr es s Mem a nd the number for the location whe re the additional infor- m at i on is st or ed .
18 T ROUBLES HOOTING We do not expect you to h av e any problem s with y our phone, but if you d o, the fol- lowing sugg estions might help. Problem Sugg estion Low volume or unusual sounds . Som eone has picked up anothe r phone on the same line. Hang up the other phone.
19 If you still have probl ems, disconnec t the phone. If other phones on the same li ne work prop erly, the faul t is i n this phone or its in stallation. I f you cannot f ind the prob- lem, tak e your phone to your lo cal RadioShac k store for assistance.

21 REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK If you follow the instr u ctions i n “Co n- necting and Cha rging the Battery Pack” on Page 10, the battery pack should last about one year. If the bat - tery pack doe s not hold a charge for more than 2 hours after an overnight charge, repl ace it with a n ew 3.
