Your radio is a new two-way, short-ran ge voice radio serv ice that lets familie s and groups keep in tou ch with each other o n specific res erved channe ls. You ca n place it on a deskto p surface o r mount it on a wa ll in your home or office.

5 Cautions: Yo u m u s t u s e a C l a s s 2 power s ource that suppl ies 6V DC and delive rs at leas t 500 mA. Its center tip mus t be s et to po sitive a nd it s plug must fit the radi o's DC 6V 500 mA jack. The su pplied ad apter meet s these spe cificati ons.
6 1. Insert the suppli ed adapter’s barrel plug i nto the DC 6V 500mA jack on th e back of the radio. 2. Route the adapte r cord into the groo ve on the back of t he radi o. 3. Plug the adapter in to a standard AC outlet. 4. Raise the anten na to a vertical pos ition .
Operation 7 2. Insert the s upplied ad apter’s barrel plug into the DC 6V 500mA jack on the back of the r adio. 3. Route the adapte r ’s cord in to the strain re lief g roove on th e back of the rad io, the n plug the ad apte r into a stan dard AC outlet.

9 U SING Q UIET C ODES Quiet Code s let yo u talk and l iste n to other radi os set to the same chan nel and CTCSS (quiet code). T his is simi lar to having a sub-c hanne l within a channe l, giving yo u greater commu nicat ion flexi bility.

U SING C ALL Hold down CAL L to send a page to othe r GMRS/FRS rad ios set to the s ame chan nel (an d quie t code, if you s elect ed one ).
11 Using Quiet Code Scan 1. Hold down QUIET unt il the qui et code flash es. Then hol d down e / SCAN until SCAN appea rs. When the r adio r eceiv es a sig nal from a radio wi th the same qu iet code , the radio stop s scanni ng. Scanning resume s after the si gnal disapp ears.
12 Setting VOX Sensitivity To adjust the radi o’s sensiti vity, rotate VOX clockwis e for quie t conditions or counterc lock wise if you a re in a noi sy env ironm ent. U SING S KIP W h e nt h er a d i oi ss e t t os c a na l lt h e channe ls autom atically , you can skip unnece ssary ch annels.
13 U SING D UAL W ATCH You can set your ra dio to monitor b oth the current cha nnel and one of the channe ls stored in M1 , M2 ,o r M3 .T o use d ual wat ch, hold d own MON and press M1 , M2 ,o r M3 . DU AL appea rs and the two chan nels appear a lternately .
14 U SING TH E K EY T ONE You can set the radio so it sou nds a tone w hen y ou press any k ey ex cept TA L K . To turn on the key tone, hold down VOX/MENU for about 2 se conds to ente r men u mode . Th en pr ess VO X/ MENU again unti l + flashes. 0N appears when the k ey tone is on a nd 0F appe ars when it is of f.
