12 Chapter 1 Using the Keyboard Y our Acer Aspire One 533 has a close-to-full-sized keyboard and an embedd ed numeric keypad, separate cursor , lo ck, fu nction and special keys. Lock Keys and Embedded Numeric Keypad The keyboard has three lock keys which yo u can to ggle on and off.

Chapter 2 25 System Utilities BIOS Setup Utility The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration prog ram built into y our computer ’s BIOS (Basic Input/ Output System). Y our computer is alre ady properly configured and optimi zed, and you do not need to run this utility .

Chapter 2 33 BIOS Flash Utility The BIOS flash memory upd ate is required for th e following con ditions: • New versions of system programs • New features or options • Restore a BIOS when it becomes corrupted. Use the flash utility to update the system BIOS flash ROM.
34 Chapter 2 DOS Flash Utility Perform the following steps to use the DOS Flash Utility: 1. Press F2 during boot to enter the Setup Menu. 2. Select Boot Menu to modify the boot priority order , for example, if using USB HDD to Update BIOS, move USB HDD to position 1.

Chapter 3 93 2. Place the CCD module onto the LCD cover . Apply gentle pressure to afix to the lower cover . Replacing the LCD Bezel 1. Place the bezel hinge covers over the hinges. Ensu re the cables are correctly exiti ng th e hinges. 2. Press down on the top middle edge of the bezel to engag e the locking clips.
94 Chapter 3 4. Press the bezel downwards at the bottom of the LCD module until the latches are locke d. 5. Replace the two (2) screw caps and two (2) screws.
Chapter 3 95 Main Unit Assembly Process Replacing the Speaker Module 1. Place the speakers on the lower cover and re place the cables in the re tention guides.

98 Chapter 3 Replacing the Thermal Module 1. Place the thermal module on the mainboard. 2. Replace the three (3) screws and tighten in numerical order (1 to 3 ).
Chapter 3 99 3. Reconnect th e fan cable. Replacing the Mainboard 1. Place the mainboard in the lower cover left side first. 2. (1) Grasp the center of the mainboard and (2) gently pr ess down on the edge of the chassis to lock in place.

102 Chapter 3 9. Reapply the tape covering L VDS grounding wire. Replacing the RTC Battery 1. Place the RTC battery on the mainboard and resolder . Replacing the Bluetooth Module 1.
Chapter 3 103 2. Place the Bluetooth module onto the lower cover , and press down to afix.. 3. Reconnect the Bluetooth cable to the mainboard connector .
