Components 11 Comp onent pa rts Globalstar Inst all ation Kit The Glob alsta r Instal latio n Kit ( CV9 0-C6029-1 ) securely holds the Global star phon e, interfaces to th e vehicle’s power, and houses t he electronic circuit for the GIK. It provides and controls the s upply volta ges for the acces sories an d the charg e current for the ph one.
Components 12 ■ The fused re d lead connects t o the posi ti ve termina l of the vehicle’s battery. ■ The black lead ground (GND) connects t o a clean, unpainted metallic p art of the ve hicle. ■ The fused green lead (STEREO MUTE) is for car stereo mute.
Components 13 Car Power Adapter The GIK can alternatively be pow ered using the Car Power Adapter (CPA) ( CV90-C6032-1 ). ■ Connect the CPA cable to the 4-pin connector on the back of the unit. ■ Plug the CP A into the vehicle’s car p ower port.

Operati on 18 Cauti on Do not p ull the phone out of the GI K withou t first pressin g the release bu tton. If you do so, you could damage the phon e and th e GIK. Tu rning on the phone and GIK When you t urn on the v ehicle’s ignition, the phone a nd the GIK are turned on.
Operat ion 19 Note If you turn off the ve hicle’s ignit ion during a call, the G IK remains on so y ou can continue tal king. (The GIK wil l remain on until the phone batte ry is fully charge d.
Operati on 20 If both the phone a nd the GIK are po wered do wn a nd the pho ne is placed i n the GIK, th e phone will cha rge as lo ng as: ■ the GI K is wi red to t he veh icle ba ttery, O R ■ the car power adapter cable has power (the light on the cable is lit).
Operat ion 21 vehicle is mo ving, use the Ha nds-Free m icrophone s o that you can alway s con centrate on traf fic conditions. If you turn o ff the vehicl e’s igniti on during a call, the call will not be interrupt ed. After yo u te rminate t he call, the p hone will pow er off in 30 seconds .
Operati on 22 Connecting to a perso nal compute r Connect in g a USB data cable (GDC- 1700) from your comput er or other devi ce t o the dat a port of the GIK allows th e phone to send and recei ve data.
