7. Cl ose the case c over an d fasten th e screw s. Co nnect the p ower ada pto r and ca bles back to the NAS . 8. T o check that the memory module is recognized by the NAS, power up the NAS and logi n th e web i nterfac e as an admi nistr ator .
b. TS - 853U, TS - 1253U : L oosen the tw o sc rews on th e rear o f the NAS. 2. Open the NAS . 3. Slide the memor y module to the slot at a 45 - degree a ngle (approximate ly) .
5. Make su re th e memo ry mod ule si ts i n prop erly w ith the cli ps i n place. Note : F or TS - x53U & TS -451U models, a lway s ens ure t hat a memor y mo dul e i s instal led in the p rim ary slot (re d box in the belo w figu re, ) or the system wi ll fa il to start.

8. Secur e the h ard d rive c age by fast enin g the fou r in ner scr ews (fo r th e 4 - bay NAS, please f asten the two additional top sc rews.) Then reattac h the case cov er of the NAS by gently sliding it back together . 9. F a sten th e two/f our sc rews onto t he rea r of th e NA S.

10. F a sten th e scre ws. Cl ose t he cas e c over and fa sten the s crews. 11. Connec t the power adaptor and cables to the NAS. 12. T o che ck that the network ex pansion is recognize d by the NAS , power up the NAS and login the web inter face as an administr ator .
6.3 TS -870U- RP, TS - 1270U- RP 1. T urn off the NAS. Disconnect the power adaptor , network c able(s), and any o ther connect ors or ca bles fr om th e NAS. 2. Be fore installing the netwo rk expa nsion card, put on a n antistat ic wrist str ap to preve nt electrostatic dis charge.
6. G ras p the edge of the expansion card. Align the notch on the gold edge of the card with the notch in the PCIe slot. Inser t the network expansion card to the PCIe slot until it cannot go an y further . 7. F asten the s crews. 8. Clos e the case cover and fas ten the screws.
Chapt er 7. Install and H ot - swap Hard Drives Caut ion: Befor e start in g, pl ease ensu re th at you tu rn off the NA S, di sconnect th e powe r adaptor, network cable(s), and also re move any other device/ca ble that is attache d to the NAS.
2. Install th e HDD : a. For 3 .5 ” HDDs, re move both br ackets (pinch the end mark ed “ pull ” to pull and separ ate the bra cke t ) from the tray .
b. Fo r 2 .5 ” HDD s /SSD s , secure t he three screw s in the back of the hard driv e tr ay . 3. Inser t the hard drive tr ay into the T urbo NAS all the way to the botto m and close the case cov er .
7.1.2. TS - 112P, TS - 212P and TS -25 1C 1. Loos en the screw s on the rea r (t op and bott om) of t he NA S. Remove the case cover o f the NAS by sliding it apar t (see the underside of the NAS for visual indicat ors of the NAS case being lock ed/unlock ed.

Th en, pl ace the NAS verti call y on t he stan ds. 7.2 Hard - swap H ard Dri ves The QNAP NAS is compatible with 2.5 - inch / 3.5 - inch SA T A hard disk driv e s from m ajor h ard disk bra nds.

Wh en RAI D 1, RAI D 5, o r R AID 6 co nfigu ra tio n is execu ted , the syste m will init iali ze th e hard drive s, create the RAID device, fo rmat the RAID device, a nd mount it as a volume on the NAS . The progre ss will be sho wn on the LCD panel.
View system information by the LCD panel When t he LC D pan el sh ows th e serv er nam e and IP add ress, p ress the “ Enter” b utton to enter the M ain Men u. The Main Me nu consists of the follo wing items : 1. TCP/ IP 2. Physi cal d isk 3. Volume 4.
3. Volume Thi s section sh ows the di sk config uration of the NAS. The first l ine shows the RAID configuration and s torage ca pacity; the second line shows the member drive number of the co nfiguration.
