1 Quick S t art Guide SANbox 6140, an intelligent Storage Router , provides ser vers with iSCSI connectivity to SAN-attached Fibre Channel-based disk or tape storage. Suggested Configurations Figure 1 shows the SANbox 6140 connecting iSCSI ser vers to a direct-attached st orage array .
2 Installation Instructions This Quick Start Guide describes how to install and configure your new QLogic SANbox 61 40 Router by following these steps: ❑ Step 1. Verify the packa ge contents. ❑ Step 2. Pre-installation checklis t ❑ Step 3. Mount the router .
3 Step 3. Mount the Router Mount the SANbox 6140 using the shelf, if purchased. Step 4. Install the SFPs An SFP transceiver is required for each rout er port that will be connected to a Fi bre Channel de vice or switch. SFPs are included in the packa ge.
4 Step 6. Install the SANsurfe r Router Manager Management Console - System Requirements: The SANbox 6140 Router comes with QLogic’ s SANsur fer Router Manager application. (The Router m anagement console can be a Windows, So laris, Linux or MAC OS-X based workstation or server .
5 Y ou will lose the connectivity of the telnet session at this ti me. If you want to continue usin g the CLI, restart the telnet session with the IP address you just as signed to the management port. Y ou now have the management p ort configured with the ap propriate IP address.
6 Copy the FC WWPN (World Wide Port Name s) for both FC Po rts.Y ou will need these names to present LUNS from your Storage subsystem. If you have an NTP server , enable the NTP Server and enter the NTP Server information. This is located in the GUI Screen on the Information tab when router is sele cted in the System T ree view.
7 4. Presenting LUNs to iSCSI Initiator Press the “Refresh” button to refresh the display of SANsurfer . Now you should see the iSCSI initiator names under the tab of Discovered Initiators. Run the LUN presentation Wizard to assign a LUN(s ) to a server(s).
